These layoffs are saving a load of money. Having staff sitting at home being paid is eating at the profits. As the company progresses, they can reemploy the more experienced staff and hire new staff who will work for a lot less than current staff, or better still, reemploy the old staff and get them working for a smaller salary. I'm so surprised that every company isn't doing this, just the airlines. Profits make a company share price rise. And being ruthless. If the staff doesn't want to work for a lower wage, there will be a long line of people who will, with the perks that come with it. Who wouldn't?
