Telit expands global availability of CAT-M modules with certification by Verizon
London, June 25, 2020 - Telit Communications PLC ("Telit", "the Group", AIM: TCM), a global enabler of the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced that its CAT-M modules, the ME310G1 and ME910G1, have been certified for use on Verizon's 4G LTE network. The modules have now been certified - and can be deployed - by several major US networks, further expanding their availability on an international level.
Based on the Qualcomm 9205 LTE IoT modem, the modules are used for wearable medical devices, smart utility metering, industrial sensors, and other applications that require long battery life and reliable connectivity even deep inside buildings.
Key features of the ME310G1-W1 and ME910G1-W1 modules include Power Saving Mode (PSM) and extended Discontinuous Reception (eDRX) to maximize battery life, and a maximum coupling loss (MCL) of up to +15dB/+20dB to ensure reliable indoor connectivity.
For applications also targeted at markets outside the United States, the certified modules' different variants offer 2G fallback and extended coverage which allows IoT devices to operate in all network conditions, significantly reducing coverage issues. For devices deployed globally or across multiple countries, 2G fallback also ensures connectivity where more advanced networks are not yet deployed on a national scale.
Paolo Dal Pino, Chief Executive Officer, Telit, commented : "Receiving certification of our CAT-M modules by a major US network like Verizon allows us to address high levels of demand in the market for modules providing reliable connectivity with low power consumption. It is an important step in our efforts to achieve global availability for the CAT-M modules."
