Theo,
"Oh the irony....When Covid was on its way I posted several warnings on the MTRO BB about how it would affect the markets. Both myself and NOV adjusted our holdings accordingly. I had also posted which stocks would do well from the need for testing kits etc .."
Like yourself , I repeatedly warned LTI Lloy was going down to 23p , and advised him to average down regularly . Two months after it troughed he told this forum he'd sold out previously and bought back in @ 24p . The stuff of legend that only LTI believes in . Hence why all the old sweats have seen through him .
Anyway , we are now told DOW will self correct 80% in 3 yrs time during the great Financial reset . Not a gambling man ( As against my beliefs ) , but I'm certain LTI will tell us after event he'd been in cash for ages .
Anyone with a brain cell should by now appreciate LTI is our resident Walter .
LTl,
"Hopefully Lloyds will be close to pre tax profits of £8 Billion this financial year with the help of clawbacks."
After tax , buybacks , staff bonuses , what should the per share allocation be in your eyes ?
LTI ,
"Th
you are an idiot."
You're trolling this forum daily and don't add anything of substance .
Our Theo is far from foolish ! He gives us the lowdown on China from SE Asia' perspective .
The press tells us Omicron is more contagious than previous variants , but considerably less deadly . All the new Nightingale hospitals will prove to be another waste of resources .
I trust you'll match me pound for pound in the next 2 days .
Address your insecurities and you'll become a better human being .
Theo,
One of my Xmas gifts from my children was :-
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Money-True-Story-Made-Up-Thing/dp/1786495708
Only a 2 day read . It explains the consequences every time Fiat money has been introduced in the past , going back 5k yrs . It never ends well .
Denby,
"QUESTION does anyone see a stock market crash coming ????"
We all await our friend LTI to asnwer such insightful questioning . He always tells us he's ahead of the curve ! After the event !
Following LTI s forward guidance , we'll give you ours .
LTI,
"A buyback is a return of capital to shareholders, by reducing the number of shares in issue - END OF."
Until the same BOD issue the same amount of shares , every year as staff bonuses .
It's bound to sink in eventually .
Theo,
Was invested in RKH back in their early days . My concern became when I recalled Pt Stanley airfield cost £1 BN , over 30 yrs back . New oil infrastructure will now cost multiples of that and due to the distance oil will have to be sold below open market value .
Hardup,
"to not hike on Thursday would display a degree of lethargy and willful disregard for the facts that will hurt the economy and ordinary people. "
How would that be ? Base rise would lead to £20 BN added interest payments on ND , steeper mortgage payments for households and enhanced tax burden .
The writer of the article is obviously not fully conversant with the consequences . The ECB or FOMC aren't raising rates either , despite their surge in inflation . At this moment in time no one wants a strong currency .
LTI,
"Investors just holding cash will obviously have to hope for large falls in equity values, to make it worthwhile holding cash."
Should Russia invade Ukraine , Europes gas supply will be curtailed, benefitting those in cash .
Should China attack Taiwan , semiconductor shortage will benefit those in cash .
As you've told us before , Lloy is impervious to Global events .
MV,
I have wondered where your choice of name came from and you have now explained .
About 17 yrs back was in a pub in Majorca and I can't recall how I ended up talking to him , but remember the amusing story he told . This gentleman was in the Merchant Navy and they docked in Saigon during the Vietnam War . Whilst ashore they ended up in a watering hole that served food . Full of burly US Marines he ordered his steak , chips and peas . Some grunt asked him what Brits were doing here :-
"We're carrying a shipload of timber to Hanoi to build the biggest bandstand the world has ever seen "
"What for ? " says Yank
"So we can watch the Vietnamese kick your arse out of their country . "
At 5' the Marine missed his target , his peas went flying under the table and the whole place erupted into an Almighty brawl .
" I spent the duration of the brawl rounding up my peas under the table and eating them "
I think an Arctic convoy medal came out about 15 yrs back . Merchant seamens losses must have been on a par with RAFs bomber command of 55k .
"The failings of this statist control system have been covered up by a pass-the-parcel any collateral goes €10 trillion plus repo market, which with the TARGET2 settlement system has concealed the progressive accumulation of private sector bad debts ever since the first Eurozone crisis hit Spain in 2012.
These distortions can only continue so long as interest rates are suppressed beneath the zero bound. But rising interest rates globally are now a certainty — only officially unrecognised by central bankers — so there can only be two major consequences. First, the inevitable Eurozone economic recession (now being given an extra push through renewed covid restrictions) will send debt-burdened government deficits which are already high soaring, requiring an accelerated pace of inflationary financing by the ECB. And second, the collapse of the bloated repo market, which is to be avoided at all costs, will almost certainly be triggered.
This article attempts to clarify these issues. It is hardly surprising that for the ECB raising interest rates is not an option. Therefore, the recent weakness of the euro on the foreign exchanges marks only the start of a threat to the euro system, the outcome of which will be decided by the markets, not the ECB."

As the Euro weakens , Sterling strengthens with a knock on effect on equities . Well worth a read for those who believe in capital preservation .

''LLOY has plunged-90% this century''
someone else without a brain"
You're so clever now tell us all in percentage terms how much it's dropped this Century .
I don't expect a reply as I know numbers aren't your strong point !
