Theo,
"Sleepy Jo has done us no favours with his clumsy handing of the Afghan situation. Lets hope he hasn't started the dominoes tumbling..."
You know as well as I , in Biden' Presidency US will lose its reserve status . Fed will have no option but to raise rates to protect Dollar , the Western world will be forced to follow suit , causing major asset price correction of equities and housing .
This Afghan debacle is the beginning of the end of the US as top dog .
Bubble,
"Lloyds Bank entering private rental market ,50,000 homes for rent ,now that's stability imho"
Lloy buying BTL @ 6% yield , with a cheap management fee of 5% , doesn't leave a great margin for error , voids or repairs .
Lloy are also buying on a property peak , as they did with buybacks .Where do they get these clowns from ?
Bumble,
Don't take any notice of LTI , he's our resident bully . The whole forum has seen through him , bar 3 phychophants , who aren't exactly the brightest bulbs in the pack .
"You really are coming across as a bit of a Kn0b "
A most objective statement ! To which the whole forum will agree .
Wids,
As you'll be aware , last month was the 50th anniversary of Nixon' de pegging Dollar from Gold . In this half a Century we are told Dollar has lost 80% of its purchasing power .
My concern is that under Biden they'll lose another 19 % in his Presidency , rendering the Currency practically worthless . They'll be forced to raise Fed rate and we'll be forced to follow suit .
I appreciate bank NIM will rise , but it'll be devastating to the economy and Society .
Hence my query to TFE earlier in the week about hedging .
Should the above scenario materialise bank liquidity will be critical .
"The American economy and the dollar rebounded during the 1980s in part because of lower tax rates and in part because of the deregulatory efforts instituted by the Carter administration. Unfortunately, the favorable economic conditions did not lead to fiscal soundness, but, instead, seemed to encourage even more reckless behavior in Washington. For the last twenty-two years, the economy has seen one financial bubble after another: first the tech bubble of the late 1990s, then the housing bubble that burst in 2008, and now a combination of housing and equities seems to be rising well out of synch with market fundamentals."
Prudence should be the order of the day .
Zirp,
It's hard to believe Lloy carried out buybacks on a price peak , depriving shareholders of dividends .
They could have carried out buybacks 1 yr back @ 3 for 1 had they had foresight .
It doesn't place Lloy BOD in an intelligent position , thinking like LTI , that Lloy is impervious to Global variables .
Bumble ,
By Heck , is it me or is there a full moon out there , folk's losing the plot .
"Therefore your holding (10,000) is now worth £12,500 because although your holding hasn't changed in effect you own a bigger slice of the cake / company.
Hope this is clear!"
No , it is not clear , Lloy buybacks are simply a transfer of shares from shareholders to staff , it doesn't enhance NAV for shareholders .
I trust the above is clear !
LTI ,
You're making a fool of yourself again .
You'll learn eventually !

‘’Timothy Taylor Landlord is a nightmare to pull .’’
you know as much about cask conditioned ale as you do shares - nothing"
14 yrs back bought the lease to the Black Bull in Otley for the Mrs . It's famous because Cromwells men drank it dry before the battle of Marston Moor .
The lease agreement with Punch Taverns dictated that a pump should be allocated to Timothy Taylor Landlord . It is a very popular beer , but staff complained it took too long to pull when pub was packed out .
You've been closeted in your council flat , alone , for so long , you're losing perception of how much the world is evolving .
Brixton,
Don't lose sleep over LTI , he's our local Walter . I've lost count on how many folk hung on his bullishness and subsequently lost part of their pension pot .
The old sweats on here know he has no integrity , morals or conscience .
FOR CONFIRMATION , YOU NEED TO ASK LTI HOW LLOY WILL BE IMPACTED BY THE GREAT FINANCIAL RESET . THAT WILL GIVE YOU CONFIRMATION HOW CLUELESS HE IS AND MUCH ELSE .
LTI,
You're showing yourself up again :-
mal
''LTI , how many shares would need to be bought back to reach the sp of 73.6p''
Between Zero and about 70,970,030,430.
The market decides of the valuation of the Lloyds banking group business and therefore the cost of each share."
You're wrong again , Maldim was talking about this present price .
Acknowledging you're not good with percentages :- 73.6 - 46.23 / 46.23 x 100 = 59%
Lloy BOD would have to buyback 59% of floating shares @ today's price for Maldim to attain his goal .
The market is corrupt ! It is not a free market ! Manipulated markets , always crash in the end !
You should stick to cleaning !
Scb,
"LLOYDS is currently 30 or 40 percent below pre covid levels so a buyback WOULD boost the shareprice just the same as RBS and BARC have been boosted by their recent buybacks."
Lloy peaked @ 67p in Jan '20 , since then it's dropped 31% . For your benefit :- 67-46 /67 x100 .
The 40% you are mistaken with are LTI's losses from buying in 80's when we were informed Lloy would resume dividends .
As for Barc and RBS , they have an investment branch , which is boosting their profits in this present gambling frenzy . GFR only 4 yrs away .
LTI ,
You were the cleaner @ HSBC , so it's understandable you're not conversant with percentages .
The more folk you share a cake with , the smaller your slice .
One would be inclined to observe , you'd take more than your share .
Scb,
"A buy back announcement would be music to the ears of the market and WOULD increase the share-price."
Lloy only dropped in price whilst it was implementing buybacks .
"A buyback is a return to shareholders where as consolidation is no return whatsoever - anyone telling you differently is thick or stupid - or both."
Lloy buybacks have not increased its shareholders wealth , it's a scam . You need to take a look in a mirror .
LTI,
You'll learn eventually !
You did tell us Lloy was cheap in 80's , so whilst you're nursing +42% losses. , you're in no position to preach to anyone .
Don't ever forget , it's widely acknowledged on this forum you have no integrity . So go and save on cyber space .
Falk,
In my organisation there's a motto , 'everyday is a school day ' , whereby folk learn from their mistakes .
"The sp should have reached 50p - 55p range this week.
Hopefully this coming week *Better late than never*.
IMHO-DYOR "
If Lloy BOD increase Div it will give false confidence to folk like yourself , who will then drive share price back up to 80's , on speculation . When the next crash occurs in 4 yrs time , and Lloy Div is curtailed and share price nosedives , you will vent your spleen .
Perhaps for once , Lloy BOD are doing shareholders a favour .
Rick ,
"In 2009, writing in Rolling Stone, journalist Matt Taibbi famously described Goldman Sachs as a “great vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity, relentlessly jamming its blood funnel into anything that smells like money”. ... “Others made no money and still paid large bonuses.7 Feb 2020"

Goldman Sachs is still the 'giant vampire squid': When will it decide to change? | The Independent | The Independent
Unfortunately for Society , their protogues span the whole Global banking system . AHO is one of their disciples . Their sole purpose is self remuneration @ the expense of shareholders , hence buybacks , it's a con !
Anyway , talking of buybacks , where's our LTI , he still hasn't answered last nights query .
