I think there are similarities between the tobacco and oil industries. Publicly governments would like to reduce the consumption of both of these products. But in reality, both industries bring in huge amounts in tax revenue, and provide employment across many other sectors.

Car charging:
I have seen many new housing estates with no provision for charging. Where parking is away from the houses there will be issues with charging points, leads, tripping hazards and leads being stolen.
Also, how much tax does the government make from vehicle fuel sales ? Because as people move across to electric vehicles, this lost tax will have to be recouped some how = Electric Vehicle Tax

Another point would be - electric vehicles are only environmentally friendly if the electricity being used to charge them is generated from a 'enviro-friendly' source.

Exactly, and goings-on like this are not rare. We are still in the middle of two partly interconnected storms regarding TLW. The internal issues and POO. It will be very interesting to see how this all pans out and if PIs get shafted.

A very valid post, and large holders having ulterior motives should never be ignored. Also, I just wonder if asset sales and tidying up the balance sheet could lead to a T/O by a non-major player. Sam or AH ?

I know some holders feel that Uganda was sold too cheaply - but on reflection - I am glad we are out of there. Nothing was ever easy and I don't think this will change no matter who owns and operates this acreage.
