The CFM open fan is still a scale model undergoing wind tunnel tests. A demonstrator is not expected until the end of this decade.

It is usually the Airline that specifies which engine they want fitted to new aircraft, but I can see that the very different configuration of the open fan compared to the ultrafan may make it difficult for Airbus to offer both options.

Yes, the results for 2021 look strong. However, a possible reason for the sp dropping back again is that these are still unaudited results. Until we get the final audited results and can see any qualifications and comments from PWC the doubts will remain.
