I'm with Sid on this one, Saudi/UAE are disassociating themselves from the US/West & pursuing an independent strategy towards a decreased oil/gas economy. These are serious players & the latest 'predictable' US financial catastrophe wont deflect them but encourage them. Not saying it wont impact NPV & JV/buyout price but these are serious long term players & very impressive at that, cant see it stopping their strategy.

Driving, I know you are in ZIOC, IMO this is a similar type of play. A world class resource, proven up & ready to go - if the Chinese dont want it, there is a new Gulf gang in town that likely will & they are already committing to building the ports.

We need to get the forum back on track to discussing practical issues, there is a lot of very good stuff going on in RoC - at long last - & hopefully sooner rather than later it will affect KP2 & their projects.

Fluffy I agree re AD Ports, it could change a lot of NPV spreadsheets. Also the Saudi embassy & the UAE mutual legal agreements with RoC, look like serious indicators of incoming Gulf investment. At the moment our Chinese friends act like they are the 'only game in town' in much of Africa (& tbf for last 20 years they pretty much have been) but now the Saudi/UAE guys are moving apace with their diversification from oil/gas plans - I think they may well have some competition for prime projects going forward.

I am with ATG here I see it as being between 1 & 3. The Chinese are being outrageous it would be great to replace them. DX may be more viable in the short term with Saudi/UAE money sniffing around for opportunities. Something could come out of the blue here.

I am relaxed about ongoing running costs, barring major report/surveys, these are minimal vs our current market cap & a small 5-10% placing year end covers them for a couple more years. Our large core investors have not sunk money in to not see it through to fruition & they have deep pockets.

Its interesting thinking what Elphick's price & time horizons might be regarding his ZIOC stake. He is now 62, and this whole situation must have dragged on nearly a decade longer than he might have anticipated after the listing in 2010. Perhaps (time value of money etc..) he is looking to cash in earlier rather than later, & structures any deal accordingly (to the extent he has influence & he still has some from his stake & position as Chairman).

Glencore by way of their offtake arrangement could potentially secure long term revenue from the mine by turning that into a royalty stream - as they have with other companies where they have sold off their shares.

IF we are looking at a cash rich strategic investor like Saudi/UAE, might they be tempted to secure immediate ownership & control rather than getting involved in a JV (whereby they share decision making & profit with partners) & avoid potentially paying a substantially higher price in future to eventually buy out their partners. Buying at a price based around pre-development NPV will be significantly less than after say Stage 1.

You are a busted flush Alb1, no longer a shareholder here by your own admission. Just go away & get a life, time to move on: you are not cut out for this type of investing, the Halifax has some good deals at present, check them out.

MM is clearly an LTH, 'paid ramper' seriously, nobody needs paying (oh & by whom?) to be positive on ZIOC especially if you are an LTH with everything that is happening. It is crazy that MM who adds significant value to the board by his research, is continually targeted for attack. If you dont like him block him, but dont try to stop the rest of us benefiting from his posts.

Elphick, IMO is driving for an eventual buyout north of £5 & always has been, that was the entire basis of the original JV agreement with Xstrata. In particular the famous 'NPV clause' that would have forced them after a successful Stage 1 to buy out ALL ZIOC shareholders on that formula. IF we are lucky a similar deal may be forthcoming with our new JV partner. The entire basis of a listed company is that ALL shareholders get taken out on the same terms. Elphick fights for the best deal for his shares but also by extension for ours.

There is suddenly real momentum building behind infrastructure/mining projects in the RoC. It must make BOD's more comfortable committing to RoC projects when they see their peer group already committing. In particular the UAE port proposal, potentially positively changes many projects' NPV & reduces initial capital requirements . I am increasingly thinking/hoping we may well be starting with a Stage 1 level project rather than an EPP.

All commodity/infrastructure investment in RoC helps KP2 & ZIOC. It puts the country firmly on the investable map, and gives comfort to supervising BOD's that they are not pioneers/crazies going into the great unknown, but following in the footsteps of their peers.

ATG agree completely, it is elementary commercial etiquette to provide those to a consortium whose project you are solely responsible for delaying.

Matt that is just crazy talk, I really hope you are joking. Real investors are positive about shares they own - thats how it works right... Like this company has money to pay anybody.....

Seriously MM provides us with great info, of course he is positive, thats because he is a genuine investor. Please just keep it coming MM, given zero input from 'our' BOD & management, it does not hurt us investors to have a stream of relevant news stories. Digest them & come to your own conclusions but this raw material is invaluable.

There has been a lot of comment & research on the ZIOC LSE forum regarding the suddenly increased activity from the Gulf states in RoC. This included the Saudis opening a Brazzaville located embassy in February & AD Ports of UAE signing an agreement to develop a mole port at Pointe Noire. Speculation on the ZIOC forum centred on the project/cost implication of the infrastructure & whether the new $80b (as of last week) Saudi mining fund could include kickstarting the ZIOC project. I wondered if there were any implication for KP2 on both counts, particularly if the Chinese continue to drag their feet (as they did with ZIOC as well).

The speed at which these guys are moving in a 'sleepy' African country is stunning. It must be for a clear purpose - at the moment there is not sufficient economic activity to justify a spanking new port. If they turn out to be our partners, that would be great, it seems they get things done asap: just what is needed!

I agree MM, I see FMG as being one of the three most likely full scale developers of Zanaga either as the JV partner or via buyout. The other two being, first a Chinese consortium (to meet the Xi/CCP iron ore ownership target in their latest economic plan) & lastly potentially a Saudi/UAE bid to provide guaranteed high quality iron ore for their new green steel production hubs. Interestingly all three are dominated by powerful single minded men used to imposing their wishes & getting their way.

Whilst I still believe the most likely short term deal is going to be an EPP along the lines floated by ZIOC over the last 3+ years, I am hoping the announcement of a deal will smoke out all interested parties. If they dont act before the EPP plans are finally contracted, they face being essentially shut out of the biggest remaining high quality iron ore deposit on the planet. IMO that announcement event will focus minds & attention, potentially interested parties need to then move asap on ZIOC or lose it.
