Could be some skin and hair flying ...... may be good for more RE + storage

NREL Performed a First-of-Its-Kind Assessment of Opportunities for Grid-Scale Energy Storage in South Asia Over the Next Three Decades
Aug. 30, 2021
By 2022, India's wind and solar power generation capacity is targeted to reach 175 gigawatts (GW). Beyond next year's target, the Indian government is planning to continue rapidly scaling clean energy markets over the next several years to achieve 450 GW of wind and solar by 2030. This will mean a 20% year-over-year growth in the country's wind and solar capacity between 2022 and 2030.........................

The city of Johannesburg in South Africa is seeking US $278m investment in solar power, and gas-fired power storage projects in bid to improve electricity supply in the city.
The investment is set to foot construction of a 150MW solar plant, 50MW of rooftop solar panels and the refurbishment of an idle gas-fired plant that could generate 20MW. It will also see the installation of 100MW of battery storage.

Just to give a rough indication of how small 200MWH of electrolyte may be in the big picture about to unfold... it is merely 5 x 10MW 4 hour duration (40MWH) or 2.5 x 10MW 8 hour duration (80MWH) BESS systems. The total SA Eskom/World Bank BESS projects require 1440MWH, about 900MWH of which are in phase 1 packages 1,2 & 3. These are completely separate from the Risk Mitigation and other bid windows 5 & 6. Then factor is the private sector, mines and processing plants etc.
Can't see much of BMN's electrolyte needing to be shipped too far once Mikhail shows what's under his kilt.
Looks like Bushvelds electrolyte may already be tied up.

This has got to be a decent potential market globally.

Now properly gazetted and clarified that generators can sell to multiple customers. Thank you Mr Mantashe.

@mogwhy, While you are about, another one for your watchlist (not the confirmed VRFB list). Anton De Ruyter confirmed yesterday that the former 1GW Coal power station at Komati would be replaced by Solar and storage. The tender has been published (link below) for the Solar/PV side with the applicants being asked to provide the capacity they can fit into the area available. Storage to follow. An interesting comment from the NERSA guy at Anton Eberhard's panel discussion on the 100Mw threshold change too. He stated that he thought all large solar plants registering for grid connections would need to include storage to guarantee being able to maintain supply to the grid then sun not shining (wind similar).

13.2M volume yesterday down to 750k so far today (visible). A quick parse of yesterdays trades gives the impression that about 9M were at the sell price at time of trade which means (a) they were not all sells (b) there are outstanding trades to be reported, (c) MMs are holding some stock or (d) all of the aforementioned.
