Sold all my Shares in Lloyds this morning. Made a small profit on SP and secured several dividends so quite happy. The only downside was watching the SP slide down to 50p but thankfully it recovered.
Lloyds SP is strongly linked to a good Brexit outcome and i just really can't see it happening now. HOC is still hopelessly divided and Theresa Mays days are numbered with a strong possibility of a Brexiteer taking over and also the prospect of a Corbyn led Labour Government is more likely. A Corbyn Government will send the SP plummeting and i don't want to take the chance. Anyway, good luck everyone and i hope my fears prove unjust.
Regardless of whatever everyone's opinion is on Brexit it was a constant drag on Lloyds SP. With no deal now out of the equation this should enable the Share Price to finally get to where it should be (75p to 80p). Good timing with the dividend record date later this week.
I know it's not an accurate reflection on the General public but it would be interesting to see what the outcome would be if confined to posters on this BB.
My vote would be for May's deal (warts and all).
I actually voted to leave. The problem is Parliament is pro remain hence all the chaos. This gives it back to the Public to make a final decision. It may appeal to Leave voters because the two leave options increases the chances of avoiding a remain outcome. Incidentally, i live in Scotland so i can live without another Referendum but how else can we end the chaos. In case anyone is interested (probably not) i voted to remain part of the UK and detest the SNP.
Why not have another Referendum where there would be three options. Revoke Article 50, No Deal, May's deal. If Revoke Article 50 receives over 50% then that becomes law. If it doesn't then the highest percentage between No deal and May's deal becomes law. I don't understand why this wasn't one of the options available for MP's to vote on in Parliament last night.
I was really surprised that the Lloyds SP did not plummet this morning. In fact, the FTSE 100 is also showing a slight gain. I think the City is starting to become immune to all the Brexit turmoil that is going on and just waiting to see how it all pans out. I voted to leave but i just wish they would agree to May's deal so we can all move on. It's possible that the City now believe that many more Labour MP's will see that nothing will command a clear majority and vote for May's deal just so they can get it done. It will also ensure that they will be able to enjoy their Easter Break with their families instead of having to troop through voting lobbies on a daily basis.
Asian stock markets have surged mainly on the brexit news (Japan up 1.7%). The City hates uncertainty and if the UK Parliament does accept the Brexit deal then it allows Businesses to throw the shackles off and start reinvesting again which is good for the economy. May should get her deal through because the DUP and Brexiteers will now realise that it is the best possible deal in the circumstances and does honour the Referendum result. I wouldn't be surprised if quite a few Labour MPs with leave constituencies will also vote with the Government or abstain in order to protect their seats. Anyway, it will be a very interesting day both in the Commons and City.
I have been watching both the House of commons and Theresa Mays speech. I personally believe that the agreement will be ratified in the House of commons because it does give legal guarantees and it is the best deal that the EU can give without other Countries wanting out with the same terms as the UK. If the Brexiteers don't vote with the Government this time then they are totally off their trolleys. Should be a good rally on shares tomorrow and beyond. Lloyds SP may now be able to quickly get to the levels most of the brokers have indicated of around the 80p mark.
Another strong performance today. The SP will probably go to 70p fairly quickly before taking a little breather. My mind goes back to when the sp was sitting at 50p and we had a poster (can't remember username) who announced with barely disguised glee that they would invest in Lloyds when the SP dropped to 45p. The thought of this poster missing out on a 25% recovery over the last two months has given me as much joy as the actual financial gain i have enjoyed (LOL).
Jeremy Corbyn is now supporting a 2nd Referendum. Theresa May will be cracking over a bottle of champagne because a 2nd Referendum is what she really wanted but couldn't admit to it. She now gets what she wants but can now blame Corbyn. The markets should react positively tomorrow so indirectly the Marxist Corbyn is going to make me, as a lloyds shareholder, a little bit richer.
Incidentally, i don't agree with a 2nd Referendum because if remain did win then leave voters could quite rightly demand a 3rd Referendum.

Here's a suggestion that probably no one has thought about.
The Government could cancel Article 50 but only Brexiteer MEPs are allowed to stand for election. That would be great fun to see them heckling Juncker, Tusk etc along with the many new populist MEPs from other Countries that get elected.
P. S--Before anyone starts moaning, it's only a light hearted suggestion and not to be taken seriously.
