Now if you can convert the wasted heat from boiler into electricity you have a very cost efficient system and even more so if you can store that electricity in a battery. However if the cost to produce electricity falls significantly then perhaps that argument won't stand, still I think that is ten years plus away.

FrankieH, Hybrids certainly have their place with current and former battery technologies, range anxiety is perhaps the biggest factor over cost affecting the take up of EV's and we are beginning to see batteries with longer range, pure EV's are winning over hybrids. General Motors (NYSE:GM) is displaying five all-electric models in Beijing, including a concept Buick SUV with promises of a 375-mile range. Once we crack the battery range costs hybrids will have no place.
