Truck based rig up vs land based rig up
Estimated Rig-Up Time:TRUCK BASED
Water Well or Small Geotechnical Rigs β 1 to 4 hours
Simple truck-mounted rotary or auger rigs used for water wells or soil testing can be set up relatively quickly, especially on flat terrain.
Workover Rigs (Oil & Gas Well Servicing) β 4 to 8 hours
These rigs are designed for well interventions and maintenance. The setup includes stabilizing the rig, raising the mast, and connecting power and hydraulic systems.
Medium Truck-Mounted Drilling Rigs β 8 to 24 hours
Includes small oil & gas drilling rigs or larger water well rigs. Setup involves leveling the rig, assembling pipes, and preparing drilling fluids.
Large Truck-Mounted Rigs (Oil & Gas Drilling) β 1 to 3 days
More complex setups require assembling additional support equipment such as mud pumps, tanks, generators, and safety systems.
Estimated Rig-Up Times: LAND BASED
Small Workover or Shallow Drilling Rigs (up to 5,000 ft) β 8β24 hours
Medium-Sized Rigs (5,000β15,000 ft) β 1β3 days
Large Oil & Gas Rigs (15,000+ ft, deep wells, or high-spec rigs) β 3β7 days
Heavy-duty Rigs (HPHT, Offshore-Like Complexity) β 1β2 weeks
