Spikey , the paragraph below sums it up for me.
'That era has ended with governments around the world signalling the end of Covid aid programmes that pumped trillions of dollars into the global economy, inflating the value of everything from stocks to houses, and trading cards to crypto.'
Heading North . 'I can see this going much lower over the next few weeks.'
None of us really know but I think another 20 percent drop over the next few months is conceivable for reasons cited already ; the Fed tapering , inflation and the end of a very very long bull run . Cycles , twas ever thus methinks .
Dorset ….. your quote 'I must say that these jam tomorrow messages of 5+ year timescales from BG are wearing a bit thin. Measured from 01/01/21 all of my BG investments are underwater.'
None of us know exactly what is going to happen in the next six months let alone five years. Past performance is no guarantee for future results - I'm informed regularly.
Jeremy Grantham argues along the line that no fund manager will give advice like, sell up and pocket the money as it looks like we are at the end of a very long bull run , a bubble even .
Hmm, this does sound a bit pessimistic but I do think we are at the end of a cycle . Only an opinion :)
Well, I was for a time and probably a few fund mangers are at least observing . If had taken "advice " some four months ago I would have made a pretty penny by now and It looks like fast bucks are still to be made . However , I came across this article which ran true with me . Sobering stuff !

https://www.boringmoney.co.uk/learn/articles/top-funds-march-2021/ Think I've got a yardstick now , just thought I should flag it up for the newbies like myself who are fed up with click bait . Not totally sure about Boring Money but seems like an honest appraisal.
Hello , a quick intro first as its my first post . I am retired and fairly new to investing but I did well with tech stocks etc after the "Covid crash" . But , I sold a lot of shares during the Brexit climax ( wish I hadn't ) then recently bought into SMT at around 1300 and took a hit.
To the point , who do you use to evaluate "The best Fund performers?" . Just wondered if there was a yardstick that experienced investors use . Thanks .
