The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
Yes I had an email conversation with ch yesterday over 2 or 3 emails, so definitely still out there
In replies to me, CH said there was little interest without the permits, but he definitely fell short of saying that there was no interest. He did say that the value of the company would be restricted to whatever can be recovered from the asset without a permit plus the value of the listing itself i.e. a value for anyone with assets they would like to have. IMHO this is a lot higher than "no value whatsoever", as duster567 would have us believe.
There is no way that BCC or AST are complicit in any wrongdoing IMHO. This is just journalistic opportunism plain and simple.
Duster If not a shareholder, why do you comment. It seems like time that you’ll never get back in your life! Why waste it here?
Whyast Sorry I meant to add onto my last sentence.......”unless he has information to say as such.”
Whyast Can you give some more detail please? When was this and who were you emailing? If this is true then how/why would ch ask you to stop sending emails?
Just to clarify, the sentence from the meeting says that JL.......”promised to shorten procedures for acquiring environmental consents and permits and building permits.” The sub heading from where the text was quoted was entitled “Easy to obtain permits”. He could have said anything, so it’s certainly not a negative news story. Just wish there was some contact with ast and can’t understand why there hasn’t!
Whyast
I've emailed him about half a dozen times this week and he's replied to my emails. It's not always on the same day but that's ok
Maybe the discussion of a low ball offer from a Croatian company might focus the minds of the Slovenian hierarchy?
A Slovenian natural resource in the hands of a neighbour on the cheap!?
misiekm
I'd quite happily accept 1.5p without a doubt. For £30m would seem an absolute no brainer! CH told me there is little interest in AST without the permits, but from this I would deduce that there is some interest, albeit not full value which is fair enough. Certainly happy to walk away with 1.5p, if that is the deal, rather than go through another 3-6 months of pain and torture like the last 6 months.
Somm The placing ability is there as a backstop/insurance policy in case JL plays hardball. It is not anticipated to be used in all likelihood imho. Without the ability to raise capital the negotiating stance re SR is significantly weakened.
Please explain why a placing after permits?
Has anyone else seen a tighter spread than here?
I think if you made this story up of the last 6 months events, people would say you're mad! I can't see how the minister cannot look resolve matters in some form before next Thursday. Whatever peoples views are on his actions, he must be an educated man, conscious of his ability to generate good news for the benefit of his country via inward foreign investment.
In reply to a query from me about the Slovenia energy event next week, CH mentioned that he would be clear about his thoughts on the current business environment in the country and that he won't be encouraging anyone to rush to invest in the country until our present issues are resolved.
I’m not sure about what cc said but I can’t believe that JL would want a disgruntled contributor at such an event. It would just be such a negative event.
Whyast I don’t think JL would be there, but if he is I agree completely, nothing good will come of it, unless he signs off the permits before next Thursday.
If I can quote from CH this morning, "The review seems to have been concluded and we would expect to have a meeting with the Minister or the new interim Director of ARSO very shortly." And in addition, "I understand they have reviewed the process and the application but I don't know the level of detail."
WHYAST
Sorry only just seen your reply, ......."that was not relating to the past it is the possible outcomes of the review that ostensibly has been completed!"
Can you please explain what you mean by this sentence, as I don't quite follow it. Thanks
WHYAST
Regurgitating is not tremendously helpful in the context of where we are now. The present internal review is complete from CH's understanding, so this is where we are now, that is the most important thing now. We cannot change what has occurred previously, so lets focus on the way forward from here....
