The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode with London Stock Exchange Group's Chris Mayo has just been released. Listen here.
Has anyone been paid the Divi yet?
Good morning tom, well that's the big question isn't it.30-40 years ago I would have set up script shares for Divi's but not any more.
I guess it all depends on what/how much Divi one gets, so for the last 5 years or so I just take the Divi into my account and then take a little look.Today I might buy more shares as the price is low, on the other hand I have already got far too much money in shares because wea ll think sooner or later it will all pay back big time but somehow never seems to return what we are looking for. So for many Divi's over the last year I have just paid myself back and spent it, so later today depends on price I might just pay it back into my bank account and spend it on another holiday in Feb/Marck. After all what's the point of life if you can't have fun along the way.
Lets first hope it gets paid today.
Good news is Divi payment on tuesday all helpful, bad news is it looks like no matter what good news comes out it doesn't really make any difference to the SP.
Is it ever going to get back to £1.?
Surely this must be some good news for ITV with all their studio's / film making etc.
The ex Divi day tomorrow will see the SP go down by 3p-4p as normal.
what's the betting !!!!!!
But does anyone really care, the only thing we are interested in is the rise in SP .
The city and brokers decide what any stock prices are, so for you or anyone to base a low price for any stock even VOD and charts or history means nothing. It looks like VOD is now on a little drop maybe for a week or longer but to what level or extent no one really knows.
So we could be down to 70p in a few days /weeeks then the ex Divi date of about 4p and if that falls on the same bad day on the market well who knows the SP could be 60p- 70p. So just because the past says something doesn't mean a jot.
Just pick a number out of the air and you could be right, the fact is no one knows.
That's better we need another 3.5% rise in SP every day for a week and it should be looking better all round.
Well if you wait another week or so when ex divi date is here it will go down by another 4p ish, so won't be far off your buy in target. 65p-66p
I don't think the government give a fig about ITV being sold to anyone why would they, they have BBC plus C4 etc and if they can let some of our big defence companies and tech companies go I don't see any problems.
I think the lower ITV goes the bigger the likelyhood is someone is going to bid £1 +.
They must be a sitting duck at this price, so just keep topping up because sooner or later the SP will rise a lot.
All money to pay divi's etc from borrowing and everything else are taken out to off-set any profits to show a negative or loss, they don't pay taxes on any loss.
So almost equiv to making a profit and pay no Divi.
I think I would rather see a loss and still pay Divi's.
So just out of interest how long has the Dame now been in power and did she sign a deal for a set period of time in the job, so maybe she is already due to move on and make way for another leader.
Nothing against her but posing the question.
Which means I think we should also get another results rns this week should we not, with more good news and I am guessing another 4p ish divi to follow.
Every little bit helps.
Yes SP not looking too good at the moment and I feel for all those that have an ave above £1, but for all those that have bought more and averaged down to say 63p-80p will all make money soon.
This dog is about to turn for the better. I hope. !!!! otherwise I will have to buy more.
Look the market is down some 100 points with many of the main ftse/smaller companies all down so it's not just ITV although many would say it's just ITV because of the Dame.
They will all come back and we will be in the money again, time to sit tight for a few weeks and keep buying.
What was the saying, who dares wins rodders.!!!!!!!!!
Or am I just being a plonker ?????
Time to top up again.
Sorry if that up-set you , I will change that to SOB level.
Good morning Tom, I 'l have you know that I long past the loveable old git stage and now at the stupid old bastard level.
Good morning on another wonderful day in November, but we are again seeing all these weid and wonderful mad ideas about almost everything to trash ITV.
The facts are if you don't like ITV or have no shares then just bugger off simple.
We all know many just come on these sites just for fun and wind others up with stupid ideas , and most/many of us just laugh. But for those that have money in the game and believe in medium term gain we just sit it out or add more.
