By TOM WINNIFRITH : When Amaroq (AMRQ) moves from the AIM Casino to the main market its market cap means that it will go straight into the FTSE 250 Index which will mean that there may be a bit of buying by Index funds but there will certainly be buying by funds that would not buy shares in a FTSE Small Cap let alone a company on AIM.

The suspension was a result of the company’s voluntary delisting from the TSX Venture Exchange in Canada. Then, following the Canadian delisting, associated German exchanges suspended trading because the primary listing source was removed.

Meanwhile America seems to be trading at equivalent of around £1.00.

It’s the market cap that counts. £100 million market cap is around 9p a share.

It is not the amount of shares issued it is the market cap that counts. Current market valuation is £25 million, so returning to a £100 million cap is not outrageous.

There must be some pretty dumb investors out there then if they apply for shares at 1p only to sell them under 1p. Most would have sold last week, some will be tied in for tax advantage, and some will have averaged down.

JH, my stockbroker sent me a form with allocation including my late top up, will know on Monday if they got it wrong. At least I know I will get my original allocation on shares held before then.

Have to admit I was surprised as the Record Date was 20th May, but have applied for over my allotment so will be interesting to see how many I get.

John Henry, I topped up on the 22cnd and was offered the placing on my top up as well as my original holdings. Unless my broker messed up I expect my full entitlement.

If you bought on the 22cnd May you qualify for placing.

As those who participated in the placing know they will be allotted a minimum of 90% of their current holding why would they wait until next week to sell at what some are saying will be lower than 1p when they can sell the equivalent from their current holdings now at a higher price knowing they will be getting them back at the placing price. Or are they that bad with maths.

If you wanted to hedge your bets you would sell all of your shares, at current 1.20 bid, thus creating a tax loss (unless in an ISA.) Then buy that half holding back using your placing offer of 1p making you 20% extra cash and then buy the other half back under 1p should it go there.
