the deaths are likely not reliable: If a formal test hasn't been done, the death is recorded as pneumonia in China. So they're not included.

Lockyer it is good to see what the competition is out there I would ask are any of those companies in talks with the nhs and have any applied for Eu and fda approval?

Agree Lockyer that Times article is a mis print NCYT is not a pharmacuetical company so they can't make a vaccine. This is about the first advantage in test making. A test that from start to finish can be done in 2 hours, a test that only tests for the latest outbreak of the virus.

How long did it take for the Us to get theirs approved?

Don't think people understand no one knows how big this is going to get. In the uk there have only been 3 cases which is a good thing. The test is research only not approved yet. So I would assume small amounts are ordered as they have to see if the test works in their labs on their equipment to start with. If they get approval and its if then the companies don't have to worry about testing it they will know it works. That is when the orders will come in if their is still demand for them. And I expect the cost will be higher due to them being approved.
