i think if the management leave this would tank so i'd stick with them. the road to success is never a straight line. back in April.
Cash in bank, making money, good P/E and plenty of opportunities for combinations. Could this slot inside Debenhams? Would shareholders accept Debenhams shares? People want to try on a suit before they buy it, similarly people want to hire suits. I am buying anyway.
Good to hear another opinion and always good to laugh. The prospect of this being inside another store without the current store costs is i think compelling. I also think the Mothercare brand is still fairly strong - this could be worth 2.00 a share minimum. Just out of interest what do you foresee on the high street? There will be more combinations and I am sure that this will be one of those.
should buy moss bros.
Or M&S - lots of possibly interested parties.
I'd go for John Lewis - run down or sell UK store leases/
Imagine if Mothercare managed to form some sort of combination then we'd see the value of the business. Here's hoping.
On the lips of investors? Sounds more like a fantasy vampire movie. Mothercareless.
Interesting views.Do you only mainly shop online? Do you ever go out lol! I think Debenhams is a fairly busy place, lots of people, busier than m&S and other places. Get the strategy and mix right and they will be doing fine. People will always want to go out and shop.
what's your view here?
No problem.
i did no vote - could expire in february
why no vote?
Appreciate the pressures but which company or sector doesn't have those, maybe supermarkets had it too easy for a long time.. Worst case scenario if online and discounters take over the market Salisbury and Tesco can merge. That's the worst case I wonder if shareholders would sell out to private equity if this share price performance continues much longer. Personally I think Argos is a really good deal long term. I've bought into this and I'm going to leave it and wait, forget it for a year regardless of what happens next week. Good luck.
expectations regarding the trading update?
I don't agree - I do not like shopping but debenhams are not so bad an experience - from an investment point of view, the stores are in good locations, interesting share register, plus the takeover thing I think is real here. I am buying today, long term hold if it takes that time (although the long term in this day and age ain't what it used to be).
Thanks for that, I sold out at 263/4. Seems to be the way of it, ie not easy to get out at the best prices even if you are in at the lows.
howde, i bought and sold this over a few days towards the end of December, sold slightly early. Looking to buy back into it, as i think the deal should go through given the commitments already made. Does anybody know when the deal is expected to be completed?
Here's hoping we get up to 1 GBP fairly soon in the first quarter and onward and upwards from there.
Out here, however i will be back into this, even if the price is higher.
