The company has signed a settlement and release agreement with an outstanding debtor for $0.72m, which has resulted a pre-tax profit of $2.2m and a year-end cash balance of $5.4m. "The board remains confident in the prospects for Endace given the company's technological leadership in its chosen markets, the strength of its pipeline, the continued growth of recurring revenue, and the expanding Enterprise customer base," the firm said in a statement.

Just a few weeks after issuing a profits warning, network monitoring solutions provider Endace said full year results may not be so bad after all, following a late spurt at the end of March. As a result of good trading in the final two weeks of the full year period, revenues for the year are expected to be $41.1m, an increase of seven per cent over the previous year.

In its Metals Filtration division sales revenue was 15% higher than the same period in the prior year and margins continued to improve, Porvair said. Its Microfiltration division saw sales revenues rise 10%, while revenue from aerospace grew by 22%.

Environmental technology group, Porvair, said it had made a good start to its 2012 financial year, with pre-tax profits ahead of its expectations. In the four months to the end of March, revenues were 12% ahead of the same period in the prior year. The firm added that during the period order books had strengthened and the outlook for the coming months was encouraging.

According to finnCap, the cash balance suggests an enterprise value - the theoretical takeover cost of the company - of $70m. With $26m of property on board, that leaves just $43m for the businss which will have sales of $115m and EBITDA [earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation] of $8.3m this year," the broker notes

House broker finnCap noted: "The reduced revenue from last year is down to the ongoing slowdown in Telco Systems sales whilst Medical division revenues continue to grow. However, this is as expected, and with margin improvements from Medical progress and the discontinuance of the legacy telecom operations, the group remains on track to meet our FY sales and profits forecast."

At March 31st the firm's cash balance was $42.7m, down $4.2m comapred to three months previously, following the repayment of a long term loan. "BATM has achieved its goals for the first quarter and significant progress has been made in the Medical Division," the company said.

During the period, 52% of the sales came from the telecoms divsion and 48% from the medical division, compared to 66% and 34% respectively in the first quarter of 2011. The gross margin was lower during the period in 2012 compared to the year before, as a result of a higher mix of Medical sales - but nonetheless met the company's internal targets.

BATM Advanced Communications, a designer and producer of telecom systems and medical laboratory diagnostic systems, performed slightly ahead of internal expectations in the first quarter. Total revenues for the quarter were $24.9m, higher than expected, but lower on a like-for-like basis (2010 Q1: $27.4m).

It also said its Christmas savings business also performed well, with 2011 sales volumes 5% up on the year before. "Indications for Christmas 2012 are similarly encouraging with an increase in orders of approximately 6%," the firm added.

Park added that it was sitting on record cash balances, currently 21% - £11m - greater than a year ago. "During the year we have also launched mobile applications to improve customer service and will shortly be launching mobile and email delivery of our prepaid products," the company said. Gift voucher supplier Park Group gave a positive update on Wednesday, saying it expected a strong financial performance in its full year figures. The firm said investment in its prepaid card system, flexecash, and the ongoing development of its web-based business had created substantial opportunities. The results of this were now beginning to be reflected in sales volume, it said, with 47 large retailers now accepting or having agreed to accept it's pre-pay cards.

UK gun manufactuter Manroy has won two new orders for its general purpose machine gun, worth a total of £0.4m, from two overseas customers. The firm said that although they were relatively small in value they were significant in terms of their strategic impact as it "confirms new and important export regions for the group"

Music Festivals, has announced that songwriter and performer Leonard Cohen will be joining the line up at a new event to be produced by the Group called 'A Day at Hop Farm' to be held in September of this year at the same place as the Hop Farm Festival in Kent. "To get the opportunity to bring Leonard Cohen to the UK for his only appearance this year is a fantastic and humbling achievement. Drug developer SkyePharma has signed a second agreement to conduct a feasibility study with RespiVert, a small molecule drug discovery company owned by Janssen Biotech. The study will develop a dry power dosage form for a RespiVert compound, designed to treat patients with severe, chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma. "We are pleased that the excellent progress with the first feasibility project has led to this follow-on project, and we look forward to collaborating further with RespiVert to develop important new products for patients suffering from respiratory diseases," the firm said

Transense Technology has announced that it now has confirmed orders of $550,000 after its trading division, IntelliSAW, satisfied the conditions of a previous $275,000 order and received a second order of the same value. Under the second order, the IntelliSAW system will be deployed in Asia to provide performance data to enhance the robustness of the power grid. Significantly, industry experts have estimated that the market opportunity for sensors in Smart Grid applications to reach $85.5bn by 2014, the company said.

One of the directors of the firm, Bernie Connor, exercised options to buy 138,888 ordinary shares at 72p each last month. On paper this now looks like a rather sensible decision. Over the last 12 months PSG shares have risen 472%. News of the tender offer saw the stock rise 23.4% by 10:47.

The proportion of shares up for cancellation amounts to 7.14% of the total share capital of PSG, and the price is a 184% premium over the closing price on Tuesday night. It's fair to say shareholders will probably be queuing up to take part, and it is likely that applications to sell shares will be severely pared back. PSG has form with this kind of transaction; in September last year it completed another tender offer for 1.5m shares which were then cancelled. On that occasion, the offer price was 200p a share.
