Stocks on the major European markets traded higher in the premarket amid the news from European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde regarding the European Union coronavirus relief fund. Lagarde expressed hopes that the EU will adopt the full extent of the economic relief agreement worth €750 billion. Traders will keep an eye on the Special European Council dedicated to discussing the bloc's response to the crisis set to take place later today. France was optimistic ahead of the meeting, stating that today's talks could result in an accord.
The DAX rose by 0.13% at 7:32 am ET. Meanwhile, in London, the FTSE 100 gained 0.24%. A minute later, in Paris, the CAC 40 increased by 0.07%.
The euro stood flat against the dollar, selling for $1.13838 at 7:35 am ET. The pound went up versus the greenback, selling for $1.25608 a minute later.
