They just announce intention to do capital return of 110p in June. I wonder what this will do to the price today ?

I believe you only have to be holding the shares on the Ex. Dividend date to qualify for the dividend payment. Which means you can buy & sell to your hearts delight but if you want the dividend make sure you are holding the shares on the Ex. Dividend date and you can even sell them the next day and still qualify for the dividend. Please correct me if I have missed something here.

did I miss anything bad in the report since I thought this would shoot up at least 15% today. Anyone seen anything negative in the report ?

I have been buying this over past 2 weeks at up to 223p and will now hold until reaches at least 255

Rio96 Hello and welcome to the Casino. As you can see this message board is very busy and message posts gradually disapear with time and remain unread. However I did see yours and hopefully you are still at home (like most of us) and able to see this response. I do not think any one has access to privaledged information here and if they did it would not be made public especially since none of us have any connection to each other. Remember for every winner there has to be a looser. (i`m one of the loosers ! for far..) . There are many posters here who do quite detailed analysis and gather information from various sources and generously share it here with others and we thank them. Then you have others who wish a price would drop (so they can buy more) or wish it would rise for obviuse reasons. And then you have people like me, who enjoy reading others posts and occassionally putting in my 2 pence worth. So does anyone have prior knowledge ? At this stage having read your 1st message... my answer is.. Yes .. and that person seems to be YOU.
But don`t become too biased towards your own view since that is what I call the danger zone.
We are all here to make money... but we cannot all be making money at the same time.

Thanks to all regarding responses on the possible 5 meter social distancing. Yes agree it should have negleagible effect on Tesco business. Especially since
A/. We are extreemly precise and good at queing.
B/. Large % of customers have nothing but time on their hands anyway.

I always thought that a 2 meter distance was just a number and it should have at least been 5 meters depending on the environment , meaning judging whether one is in a static / stationary air movement environment or slight breeze area since it all makes a difference on how far the virus can remain airborne and thus inhaled by another person.
It now appears that the virus can remain airborne for even further than 5 meters. I wonder how this could effect Tesco
especially in their stores ?

Yes Stockdale I agree the sooner the better and I`m all for it.. My question is can they do what I think Barclays has done and cancel the dividend up to days before the actual Payment Date ?

I just checked . Barclays Ex. Div date was 27-02-2020 and payment date was: 03-04-2020 which means they cancelled their dividend 2 days before payment date on 1st April fools day !! So PFC can cancel at any time up to payment date. Can someone with more expertise please confirm this. ?
