I'm positive on the prospects here but there's no sense in not being aware that -

1. The SARS family are viruses, not bacteria, so most antibiotics won't have any effect, unless incidental.
2. COVID affects the lungs but it is not only a lung disease, also affecting liver, kidneys, perhaps heart... and perhaps more. That's why no-one should regard this as just another variant of influenza.

Secondary infections by bacteria may be an important part of the disease progress, so there might be a role here AND the MOTIF FDA application for Iclaprim was for skin infections, not lung infections. One possibility is that someone sees value in reapplying to the FDA for lung therapeutics. Also bear in mind that the FDA is not the only authoriser of medicinal therapeutics ... other nations and groups of nations have their own procedures and priorities, so applying for a lung therapeutic may have some value there also.

My take FWIW is that: (1) There might be some truth behind the rumours that some entity sees value in this. The Israel rumour was flimsy but interesting because the State of Israel has been reliably reported as being very active in acquiring COVID resources, even to the extent of using Mossad resources (2) Day-traders cottoned on to the rumours and, via concerted efforts of trading groups, forced the SP up over 0.6 for the first time in ages. Some of them made very quick bucks and left. (3) Currently some consolidation, perhaps around the kernel of those original rumours, or something else, and this suggests IMO that something might be out there. If so, either expect another surge from a day-trading attack unless hard news comes so quickly that they cannot react, or a slow and sustained increase as folks realise there might be value here. All IMO, DYOR etc

Mr Nation, News is amazing but old. Nevertheless, perhaps it's been spotted and developed by someone. Pwrhaps that is behind this? We just don't know.

.... to baffle. I'm holding, in the belief that none of this makes sense and that something doesn't smell right. Yes, I know it's not rational but the potential loss is a few thousand quid while the potential gains could be significant. I've done what appeared to be entirely sensible things in the past (eg oil...) and lost loads, so I regard all investment for what it is - a casino. Place your bets and don't cry if you lose (Scott).
