RE: LI27 Jan 2026 21:34
The Minerals and Mining Royalty Regulations, 2025 (L.I.), was laid before Ghana's Parliament on December 19, 2025, which counted as the first sitting day for the 21-day maturation period.6e65b54bc11caafefd48845c Parliament adjourned sine die for recess on the same day, so no additional sitting days have accumulated since then.Under Ghana's Constitution (Article 11(7)), the L.I. will automatically come into force after 21 total sitting days unless annulled by a parliamentary resolution supported by at least two-thirds of all members. No presidential signature is required.
When Parliament resumes on February 3, 2026, the count will continue from sitting days. Yes, the House can vote on it (specifically, to annul it) next week or at any point during the remaining maturation period, as motions for annulment can be introduced and debated while the 21 sitting days are still running. However, it cannot come into force next week, as 20 more sitting days are needed after resumption.
