Konkola West Drill 2 depth12 Nov 2025 11:40
A Kobold X post from Aug has been bugging me for a while. I gave in to my brain and did a little research.

"Hole KWDD001
Drilling of hole KWDD001 has now been concluded after continued technical difficulties and limited advancement of the hole since the last update (20 February 2025) and having reached a down-hole depth of 2,711.1m."
NOTE: Use of word "concluded" and in mathematics, as my 10yo will tell you, "2711.1" rounds down to 2711 and will never round up to 2712.

"KWDD001
Hole KWDD001 was collared in the northeast of the licence and was drilled to a depth of 2,711m where it was terminated due to continued technical difficulties prior to reaching the targeted horizon (Ore Shale, Copperbelt Orebody Member). KWDD001 is believed to be the deepest mineral exploration drill hole to have ever been drilled in the Zambian Copperbelt and marks a significant milestone within the industry...
KWDD002
Hole KWDD002 is collared on the eastern side of the licence and is targeting down-dip extensions of known mineralisation (Figure 1). KoBold commenced drilling of KWDD002 on 26 March 2025 and drilling has progressed, as of 19 June 2025, to a depth of 1,343.7m."
11th Aug 2025 Kobold Tweet
"The deepest drill hole in the Copperbelt! KoBold’s Konkola West team has reached 2,712m, uncovering new insights into great mineral systems. Congrats on a record-setting milestone & thank you to our partners
@titan_drilling @Tertiaryplc!"
NOTE: Use of present perfect tense implies current/emerging news. Tone is congratulatory and X tends to be for new information.

"Hole KWDD001
Hole KWDD001 was collared in the northeast of the licence area and targeted down-dip extensions of mineralisation to the southwest of Mingomba and Konkola Deeps (Figure 1). The drillhole was drilled to a depth of 2,711m but was terminated due to technical difficulties before reaching the targeted horizon (Ore Shale, Copperbelt Orebody Member). KWDD001 is believed to be the deepest mineral exploration drill hole to have ever been drilled in the Zambian Copperbelt and marks a significant milestone within the industry.
Hole KWDD002
Hole KWDD002 is collared on the eastern side of the licence area and is targeting down-dip extensions of known mineralisation southeast of the Konkola Mine (Figure 1). The drillhole was drilled to a depth of 1,802m but was recently terminated due to technical difficulties."
Unless I've made an error (v possible) there are 3 explanations I can think of for these erroneous figures.
1) On 11th Aug, Kobold simultaneously congratulated its Konkola West team 4.5 months late AND got the depth wrong by 1m
2) On 11th Aug, Kobold simultaneously congratulated its Konkola West team 4.5 months late AND provided an alternate, accurate but unpublished depth that differs by 1m (technical reason while extracting drill??)
3) On 30th Oct, Tertiary/Kobold made a clerical error
