Cobus Loots, CEO of Pan African Resources, on delivering sector-leading returns for shareholders. Watch the video here.
Great news guys, just what we need. Buffet has been buying up a stake in TEVA. https://www.bloomberg.com/gadfly/articles/2018-02-14/teva-warren-buffett-messed-things-up-for-short-sellers Sign the generic squeeze is coming to an end?
... But he declined to comment on whether he is looking at imperial.. I think imperial could make some strategic moves and snap up some desirable targets in the areas jti is looking at doing some acquisitions. Long term however it's inevitable imperial will be broken up and sold. This is how the tobacco industry lifts earnings. It's been proven time and time again. Patience will be rewarded here
Well I do congratulate you on your holding, you are probably sitting on a tidy profit. I would agree casamigos was an expensive buy but it did have the help of a face of an A lister, something they were probably looking to replicate after the success of Ciroc aka puffy juice after the rap mogul p. Diddy took ownership and the face of the brand. Redleg unfortunately just has a red crab! So I think ideas of 100m + buyouts are probably far fetched. Looking positively however maybe don ought to commit some marketing spend on celeb endorsements particularly ahead of a US launch as they lap that up over there.. If only Bob Marley was still alive eh, wouldn't be a bad face for the brand!
The comments on this BB amaze me more and more every time i look! A2B thinks this could be worth a billion! I'd love to know under what premise you think anyone would hand over 100million for a company with 10k profit, and less than 1m 2016 sales. People on this board think a buyout is going to happen just like that, oh fever tree will buy us as they make cola! oh diageo must buy us as Don was MD! This is in its infancy. It will be 5 years at least before any buyout, you guys will more than likely have sold before then. I do think this holds promise for long term, but the gap between where we are.. a minnow.. to a big player is massive and not going to be done soon
Nice to see hik chugging out some gains, I would say advair has been written off by the market really, which is probably a good thing seeing as in all likely hood FDA will be stubborn about the appeal. At least we know where we are, a foundation of around £10-11 per share on business as usual but if some good news and nuggets of growth come our way, which is the business model of hikma, we could be in for a particularly fruitful 2018. Fingers crossed
Jimbo I don't believe Mulder wrote that ! That info usually comes from a market round up by various media sites. This week hopefully we will break out of the 9-11 pound range we've been stuck in for so long. Onwards and upwards
This has been a torrid time for holders, more so to the fact due to sector reliability it would have been difficult to forsee such a sp drop. If i had lost as much money in a resource stock I would understand the error of my ways! All I can say is that this industry being generic is truly cyclical. Somewhat reminds me of the situation chip makers have gone through recently - take micron for example. One day chips are awash with supply and earnings are being crippled, to now only a year later the stock is up 300%, and chip makers supposedly are in a new era of non cyclical nature! Once the generics market improves, and a few blockbusters come off patent for hikma to sink its teeth into this sp should be back to normal - for a while until more price pressure comes in a new cycle. No one makes money buying stocks that are popular.
JTI to seek out m and a activity 'regardless of size' to quote new CEO coming in. Read between the lines folks. New CEO wants to come in and make a big statement to steady the ship. Makes a big offer for imb as our shares are cheap and the yen is high to the pound. ' there is a war on vapor' he says. Well I hope someone can advise him of a company with a standout market leading vape brand.
aamir, remember buying this at 1800 and selling at 2200p thinking damn I wish i tapped into the hikma growth story at a lower level, my wish was granted when i bought back in at 1800p and here we are, thing is to remember how quickly sentiment changes with a share like this, I was up 30% in a very small period of time, and likewise on the down. I think any average from the 1300-1600p is quite fair value, and hope we see your average being met soon
Just topped up, got my average down to a holdable level 1430p from 1711p. Would have liked to average down a little more but dont want to be overweight in this. I dont think 14 is unachievable in the medium term, just out of interest what average price are you guys booked at? IV
I guess woodford won't be seen to be getting it so wrong as he was probably buying at 220p and therefore its not like it will be showing a loss. Thats exactly how I see the offer, 100m is chicken feed to mediclinic so maybe they have chosen to wait it out to make the offer look better? On woodford poker chump you should look at his 16% patient cap holding prothena just targeted short by kerrisdale capital, if that trial goes belly up he will have to retire!
I think the interesting thing will be how much this falls if they walk away. But I would say mediclinic probably veiw this as now or never, by walking away now they see the value of their holding fall, and the possibility of losing ground to hca if they put in a bid. I think spire is in a dire situation here without a takeover and feel very annoyed for not bailing at 300p. My fingers are crossed for tomorrow but it doesn't seem overly optimistic. The board would be foolish to reject anything above 325p
I can't read those 8.3 forms Mulder, but I wouldn't imagine too many would short this over the last few weeks, do we know the rules on an extension? If so that would clearly signal a buy is in the works. Could mediclinic have made a further offer to the board behind closed doors and it too has been rejected? I struggle to see why they have taken so much time here if they are going to throw in a bid on Monday
