I have spent some time in a playground (in my capacity as a teaching assistant), and I can assure you that the girls are much less likely to quarrel than the boys. They're into friendships, chase games, the climbing frame and emotional upsets; but they don't really do quarrels.

I agree with you, but not altogether so. Character is tested by adversity, and Brad has failed this particular test. He didn't have to do much. All we needed was a video of him standing in front of a drilling rig in Colombia, holding a scanner and saying, "from now on, because of the delay at the lab in Peru, we will be announcing preliminary results, based on this excellent technology." Even I could have done it.

Tigger's right, it's an agricultural metaphor. Not to be confused with "a sow," which one dictionary charmingly defines as "a female swine." Of course, I've never met one.

Yes, it's very difficult to maintain interest in a company which produces no news. As I've said before, Brad should be releasing preliminary drilling results, based on the use of a scanner; with the caveat that these are subject to correction by lab analysis, when or if this ever appears.

Well done with this. When a share falls, one has to ask why it has fallen. If there is substantial bad news, one should follow the others and sell. But what's remarkable about GGP is that there has been no bad news. A change in CEO, a change in sentiment, a sustained bout of profit-taking, a fall in the gold price, don't really count as bad news (Newcrest following the example of Newmont, and walking away, would be bad news; but it won't happen). So everyone should hold; unless one has to sell to cover living costs, or sees better opportunities elsewhere.

Absolutely yes. There's also an element of bad luck; even if one knew that the samples were analysed in Peru, how could one foresee that Peru would get clobbered so hard by Covid?

The position here is similar to GGP, where many (including myself) are cursing themselves for not having sold in January, so that they could now buy back in at "this crazy low price." One conclusion I have reached is that loyalty to a company does not mean simply holding; it means selling (at least some)after a steep rise, when everyone is optimistic; so that one can later support the share price after a steep decline.

I'm with you on this, particularly para 1. The rich variety of the human species, with all its virtues and all its defects, is on display on this billboard. The only rule I've set myself is one I apply in my everyday life; never ever quarrel with anyone. It's pointless, you won't change his mind, all you will do is reinforce his existing prejudices, and cause emotional upset to yourself.

As you may know, I've been holding GGP since January 2011 (when I made a disastrous decision to buy at 3 pence, and suffered a subsequent decline to below 0.1), and sold some a month or two ago, to buy Thor and Metal Tiger (no regrets) and OMI (another disaster). GGP remains more than 50% of my total capital, and is by far my largest holding. So I won't be complaining if it rises.

Thanks for the reply. I wonder if this explains why the directors have abstained from buying any significant quantities of shares. They expect an excellent buying opportunity, when this 5% is unloaded on to the market.
