Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
Hi, Wolfy
I think you're slightly too gloomy on this. My guess is, present price will hold, until news arrives. If it's good news, a lot higher. If it's bad news, a lot lower.
Best wishes
Maybe it's a market maker trying to bring his holding up to a round number?
Other possibilities I have considered include a child spending her pocket money; or a parent teaching his child how the market works.
This was the price level it took off from, a week ago.
OK, Bhargav, I accept it's one seller. Without a calculator.
People sell in round numbers just to make the maths easier. And why should it be one seller? It could be more than one.
You may be right, Elric; but I have no regrets at having sold. GMET's unchanged, and OMI is up 30% since I bought at 10.20 yesterday morning.
Best wishes
Hi, Chicken
I may be completely wrong about this, but my guess is that someone at HL prevented Mapp from buying, in order to protect her from actions that would be quite contrary to her own best interests.
The brokerage business today is much more automated and less personal than it was in the '70's, when I was at Capel-Cure Myers; but some humanity remains, I am pleased to say.

With regard to the fund-raise, the questions are, at what price level, and at how deep a discount? I have seen fund-raises which have caused serious damage to the share price, and others, which have left it untouched. It all depends on sentiment, and that depends on company news, and background factors (interest rates, price trend of relevant commodity, plague, war, famine, etc.).
My guess is Brad and Louis will raise, when we get into the teens. My hope is, that won't damage us too much.
Hi, Donkey
There's no cause for regret. Just buy, which is what I did yesterday morning, and I feel much better for it.
Best wishes
Hi, Sol
I must apologise, for I have contributed to the poor performance of the share price. I sold my POW holding yesterday morning (at a 50% loss) in order to buy GMET, and increase my holding in OMI. The reason is simple; I cannot see what is going to trigger a rise here, whereas I can see that for the other two companies.
Best wishes
She, I think.
Hi, Chicken
Life itself is a gamble. Leaving the house is risky; and staying in is risky, too, because one doesn't get any exercise.
Those two buys at 10.18 and 10.20 are mine. I tried to do it in one transaction, but it wasn't possible.
And I don't have deep pockets.
These explorers are never connected to metal prices. That happens only after production begins.
Hi, Worzel
Thanks for this.
Best wishes
There's something odd about buying shares. On the one hand, it's selfish, every man for himself, sauve qui peut, the devil take the hindmost, etc. On the other, it's a collective endeavour, and there's a team spirit, which connects one to the management and the other shareholders.
I have no intention of selling soon, and much appreciate the messages of other long term shareholders.
"Singing their praises," I think.
The share price may not have recovered, but at least morale has. Despair never helped anyone.
Hi, Dr
Thanks for the post at 19.44. It's good to know that my cautious optimism is not without support among other shareholders.
Something that's odd about this chatboard, is that on all the others, it's the pessimists who get hammered; whereas here, it's the optimists. I won't go so far as to say with Nietzsche that the majority is always wrong, but in this case I do think that the gloom and doom is overdone.
Hi, break
Thanks for this; it takes courage to admit that one has made a mistake.
