I concur with the 2,650p call. I'm looking at front running that level and taking an initial position at 2,750p.

Hargreaves Lansdown deduct 0% in a SIPP provided you've completed the WBEN form. They are normally prompt at passing on the dividend though this last one arrived only this morning.

For the dividend make sure you deduct 15% withholding tax (if the investment is outside a SIPP), deduct the FX fee for conversion from $ to £ and use the correct rate of exchange. I am with HL and I received the correct amount due.

Comparing BP and DEC over the last 6 months you see a near identical SP performance.

Getting a little nervouse we are still awaiting communication from the company but don't think the SP behaviour reflects anything out of the ordinary.

They're underwater on both. Particulaly on ITV where their average purchase price is of the order of 180p.

Cheap even factoring in the weak advertsing outlook. Certainly looks deeply undervalued. I would buy in, if I didn't already have a fair-sized position! Any reason to believe there is a predator out there beyond desperation at a low SP?

Complete a W-8BEN form with your broker. The 30% WHT drops to 0% for SIPP investments and 15% outside of a SIPP. I am with Hargreaves Lansdown and it's a quick simple process to complete the form.

Shell has a lot of US investors. Those investors are less inclined to be supportive of green investments. They also resent the dividend being cut when Covid hit and its slow restoration. They look at US oil companies and see the new highs they continue to put in. Once the Shell SP allows them to exit at breakeven, they often take the opportunity. Hence the selling order flow we keep seeing depsite buybacks and the solid underlying results each quarter.

I have a truck load of these shares but I think that view is myopic and tone deaf. The cost of energy is a more complicated issue than characterising oil companies as rapacious. But there is a wide and genuine struggle to pay bills at the moment and Shell and BP have to tred a careful line at the moment.
