Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
We’ll get an RNS when RR are awarded further funding from the new government body: ‘Great British Nuclear’.
which…‘ will be set up immediately to bring forward new projects, backed by substantial funding, and we will launch the £120 million Future Nuclear Enabling Fund this month’.
Plan is generally vague but this sentance is relevant here:
‘Small Modular Reactors will form a key part of the nuclear project pipeline’
RR are not the only show in town but I’d be shocked if they are not front runners to get at least some of the SMRs.
It’s a no brainer surely - RR have world class engineering expertise and proven nuclear capability - give them the contract for UK SMRs and you are guaranteeing long term highly skilled UK jobs and a huge export opportunity.
I predict multiples of the current SP in the event of FDA approval - if not immediately then in the short to medium term.
This is obviously just my opinion - to be treated with caution.
Surely we'll find out soon ??
I don’t know whether they are ahead or behind schedule but the NHS is recruiting for the large scale (140k)Grail/galleri trial at the moment - this will last two years and if successful will be followed by another with a million participants. I suspect there are various other trials but this one is the biggest at the moment.
So, they are making progress and the NHS wouldn’t embark on such a huge trial if there wasn’t some confidence that it works.
It is important to point out here, (and I know most already know this) that Grail/Galleri and AGL/Parsortix are not competing - Grail is all about early diagnosis (from fragments of dna in blood) whilst Parsortix (with the exception of the potential Ovarian cancer test and possibly others in future) is about harvesting live cancer cells for subsequent analysis - for use in treatment/drug selection etc. Most expensive chemotherapy drugs only work for a small % of patients but we don’t currently know which ones until after treatment. Parsortix can help decide which patient gets which drug ie the one that works on their type of cancer - based on the analysis of the harvestedCTCs. There are other applications but I think this one is a central focus.
It’s a brave man who remains short in a share that rises 9% with no news on a day like today. Someone like Mr Jolly S. will always close before his stated target price is reached - after all he doesn’t want to do it at the same time as everyone else.
It would be good to see GM buying shares obviously but the BOD spend most of the time privy to inside info and are regularly in periods where they are barred from buying - so the lack of any buys should not be seen as a negative. He has plenty of free shares and options lined up which should be ample motivation.
It’s quite straightforward - DYOR on the product, market, the personel and the co-investors - and make your own mind up. Or you could just be lazy and rely on what people post on BBs like this. I offer no advice about STX here.
Bequia1, I congratulate you on your 4 years investment - you will have made a handsome profit, (at no point during the last 4 years has the SP been higher and for most of it it has been much, much lower). It’s never wrong to take a profit. Bye then.
It seems to me that the SP has risen in anticipation of inclusion in the next edition of ST’s ‘bargain shares’. If that doesn’t happen then I expect the SP to drop. Either way I agree with others here who have suggested that the real question is: whether KMK can actually deliver meaningful sales growth. I’m hopeful not confident but then that’s the game is it not ?
The fact is: we have no idea who is selling and why - all speculation is guesswork although I accept there are more educated guesses than others.
Presumably the big fear would be if someone had prior knowledge of a less than favourable decision from the FDA but I think this is highly unlikely and I am discounting it.
If I had to speculate then I'd say some Fund Manager is realising a bit of profit after the disappointing news of delays to the cervical cancer study. The IIs adjust their positions all the time and are far less emotionally attached.
But then I also ought to have a theory of who is buying at the same time ??
It doesn't make sense to me that someone is depressing the price so they can buy cheaply - after all they would have to buy back all of those sells first and would surely end up paying more ??
Remember, we haven't seen any 'holdings' RNSs so there are no major changes to the main IIs holdings.
It's just a case of having patience but if you're sat on unrealised profits and nervous then sell a few....
There are quite a few requirements for a listing on NASDAQ and TRX currently don’t come close on most of them - revenue, cash flow, capitalisation etc it’s also pretty expensive >$100k pa.
There are other ways to attract US investors/buyers though and maybe they have this in mind when re-denominating the reporting.
It doesn’t get rid of the distorting impact of changes in the FX rates though when your shares are still listed/quoted in GBP.
e.g. you get PE ratios calculated with a GBP price and USD earnings.
Very positive trading update today - given the circumstances I think they have done remarkably well. On the face of it the fear of an impending cash raise goes away - it’s a classic broken promise on AIM I know but feels credible here at this time.
The future is bright.
I am not adding anywhere in my SIPP at the moment given the current circumstances (pandemic, possible war in Europe etc) but if I was it would definitely be here at these prices.
Why would any II's have triggered a sell ? are you suggesting they use stop losses ? I would suggest otherwise - it would be unwise to put a stop loss on big positions relative to market size and I'd be prepared to bet that II's never use them.
Not saying the the IIs haven't been selling today but total volume (buys and sells) is only about 1.3% so I don't expect to see any major change in the holdings after today.
Having said that, both Polar Capital and Octopus increased their holdings in November after the interims and must be feeling pretty annoyed - with either themselves or possibly the BOD. Despite supply chain headwinds being flagged in the Interim report they clearly didn't see this drop coming. That suggests to me that this is overdone. It might take some time to effect meaningful changes in the supply chain but when they do and the global situation (containers etc) eases somewhat then this will look like a bargain. IMO.
