Zurich – ABB charging infrastructure will play a key role in making Copenhagen Airport carbon neutral by 2030 as part of a long-term agreement. Over the next ten years, ABB is supplying energy company EWII with 1,350 charging stations for installation at one of Scandinavia's busiest airports, which will become Denmark's largest EV charging site. The first 180AC charging stations and 15DC fast chargers are scheduled to be installed in 2022. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.
Copenhagen Airport was looking for a holistic EV charging solution for the more than 80,000 daily passengers and employees parking on-site. Options for fast charging were also required, for example for taxi drivers who drop off travelers or companies who are responsible for passenger transport, baggage handling or catering at the airport.
To meet these demands, EWII has entered into collaborations with various partners, including ABB for the supply of the 1350 charging stations. The charging infrastructure includes charging stations from across ABB's portfolio, from the 22 kW TerraAC wallbox to the recently launched Terra360, the world's fastest all-in-one charging station. The Terra360 enables a range of 100 kilometers in less than three minutes and is the only charging station that is explicitly designed to charge up to four vehicles at the same time. (mc/pg)
