I'm disappointed but i never bought these for their takeover potential, it was always for sustained growth in an an expanding market which will become bigger as the recession recedes and money for environmental issues returns. The management have always seemed pretty savvy and well balanced with an eye to increasing profit and managing debt, though the 150 comment on reflection was ill judged. if everybody was honest and admitted to it, we'd all have a lot of those 'short term bets' locked away in the don't open till 2011 cupboard!!
Hmmm me and my big mouth. The offer of 120 tends to suggest the results and future earnings may be a bit pants or carlyle were trying to pull a fast one. i hope the other bids come in otherwise this will drift. at least it explains the share price having trouble breeching 120 in recent weeks.
I think Shank's hand was weakened with the trading update they recently released. Everyone was looking for 150p but if they miss their projected earnings they might just have to put up with a lower offer. Anything 140+ would do me.
i'm surprised anyone is putting in an offer for a preclinical contract research company given the fact that the big pharma players have issued statements that they will be heavily reducing R&D investment and capacity within the UK.
its still a good punt. invesco and the banks have given no indication of winding it up so assuming we're through the worst of it in Europe and they retain/increase the level of occupancy and maybe increase the rents a bit we could be quids in. then again......
it does look a good play but it still has the breech of its banking covenants hanging over it and a portfolio of properties that was diminishing in value at the last update. until the management decide to update us plebs on the loan situation (which they are awful at, or answer e-mails, which they never do) this is very risky.
cheers, lets hope for good news. don't hold you're breath though, i tried last year without a response!
anyone tried contacting invesco for a likely timeframe for a market update? they must have news on the bank funding issues by now and an update on the value of the property portfolio??
probably just a bout of profit taking, many people prob sold at the peak of the share offer like i did and bought back in on the big drop, so they are just locking in profits.
a bot old but explains the rise. http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/d70d19b6-ff1b-11de-a677-00144feab49a.html
looks like you may be right, DGO is still increasing in price!
it would make sense, but cant find any proof. There is def buying pressure but not quite the arse off yet!
The link don't work! I'm assuming more news on interested parties? Well its looking more likely for the 150! It would be interesting to see if a bidding war breaks out how far it would go. I've seen you somewhere else on here, are you in any AIM oilers/miners?
so what happens now, will enoc put in a higher offer or will nothing happen and this muddles along until someone comes in with a counter bid and buys enoc out? If enoc ups the bid what would people accept? 500 would do me fine.
136?? now above offer price, either everyones gambling or there may be a new offer on the table? Just my opinion but could be even better news soon.

I don't think Shanks will escape the bid/bids when they come in. The board have said they are happy to be taken over, just not at this low price. In an ideal world the bids fail, Shanks goes on to reach its potential, failing that i'll take a bidding war and we get 150+ a share.
don't give up the day job, lol!! ;-) I have been meaning to set up a long on these for a couple of weeks, not that my providers allow it and quite lucky considering the further drop! I remember the fun discussions about someones bottom? Maybe we have reached it? tough to tell, market sentiment seems against a lot of the small miners/oilers at the momet, i've had quite a dip in all the ones I'm holding since Nov.
Thanks for the info, I would try my TD cfd account but as it took them over a week to allow LOND into my ISA it would seem a lost cause before I start!
