A mining company can increase in value by multiples long ahead of production, as it passes important milestones, raising money at progressively higher prices.

Two of GROC's projects are in advanced exploration stage: one has a resource, expected to be significantly increased shortly from the drilling this summer, and another is expected to establish a maiden resource from the drilling this summer.
I.e. two value-enhancing events which are imminent.

Then work will begin on economic assessment, which itself is a value-enhancing event, and can act as the basis for obtaining mine financing, or project sale.

So it's actually pretty advanced compared to many mining explo. companies, in a safe jurisdiction, and with the right metals at the right time.

The fact that GROC is a spin-out is a major bull point, as spin-outs on average greatly outperform the market as a whole. -

The Risk of Supply Chain Ransomware

It's an old proverb, but "a chain is as strong as its weakest link" still holds very true, especially when considering the possible ways an attacker can infect an organisation.

Quite rightly, much attention has been paid to the risks of unwitting staff being the victims of increasingly complex phishing attacks. It's too easy to dupe someone to click an unsafe link or install an infected piece of software. There are many ways to defend against that weakness, including better training and software the limits the risk of installing malware.

MSPs are a prime target

But an increasingly rich vein of attack opportunities is the IT supply chain. That's a wide-ranging and complex set of potential attack vectors. For example, it may include the organisation's HR system supplier, the managers of their air conditioning, the host of their web server, and hundreds of other suppliers and partners involved in a modern business.
For good business reasons, it's attractive to let external partners provide these specialists systems and services, so it's a fast-growing pattern for most IT teams to outsource systems that used to run on-premises.

But, that growing dependency is also increasing the risk of attack.

Managed Service Providers (MSPs) are a rich target for attackers. It's just a question of economics: if they can infect one MSP, then all that MSP's customers become victims of the attack without more effort. Attacks via an MSP isn't a theoretical risk; here's a recent example of how the group behind the Solarwinds attack are shifting their focus towards MSPs.

"This recent activity is another indicator that Russia is trying to gain long-term, systematic access to a variety of points in the technology supply chain and [to] establish a mechanism for surveilling -- now or in the future -- targets of interest to the Russian government" - Microsoft.

GreenRoc is focused on developing mineral projects in Greenland. There is increasing focus on Greenland as a strategic jurisdiction and increased attention being placed on the potential of its mineral wealth and its large-scale, undeveloped mineral deposits. GreenRoc will be in a strong position to capitalise on that interest as a Greenland-focused mining company."

"SysGroup remains positive despite guiding lower half-year revenue

(Alliance News) - SysGroup PLC on Friday said earnings have remained in line with expectations, despite a double-digit percentage drop in six-month revenue, as the company has kept a tight lid on overhead costs and has made savings from integrating past acquisitions. ...

The Liverpool-based IT services and cloud-hosting provider said it expects to report revenue for the half year that ended on September 30 of GBP7.6 million, down 16% from GBP9.0 million a year earlier.

SysGroup explained the drop by saying customers are still reducing and deferring expenditures due to the Covid-19 pandemic and its sales people still face restrictions on in-person meetings with current and potential customers.

Still, it said, operational performance has been "robust", with overhead costs contained as a result of integration synergies from past acquisitions.

As a result, SysGroup expects adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation for the recent half year to be GBP1.3 million, in line with management expectations and down only slightly from GBP1.4 million a year before. ...

If the pandemic has depressed valuations in the sector, then this could be the perfect time to pick up some bargains.

The fall looks overdone, considering that the full year EBITDA forecast is still intact.

In fact, doesn't meeting the EBITDA forecast on revenues lower than forecasted mean that margins are better than forecasted?

Looks a very good value recovery play for H2, which should be lockdown-free unlike H1.

"Shore note this morning sees Sys hitting their forecasts for full year with EBITDA of £2.8m. After the retrace, the shares trade on a PER of circa 8, so despite the obvious difficult climate remains a hold for me and I’ll no doubt add further if the offer moves further.

Westminster has committed to ploughing millions of pounds into cyber security in government in the shape of investments in the National Cyber Security Programme and in central and local government bodies, as the UK’s public sector comes under high and sustained volumes of cyber attacks.

The sums announced today in the 2021 Spending Review and Autumn Budget total over £750m and form part of a total investment of £2.6bn in cyber and legacy IT during the period of the Spending Review – most of which will be spent on improving the government’s own cyber security. It comes on top of already-agreed funding for the National Cyber Force, which is currently being stood up.

Prominently, the Spending Review provides for a £114m increase in the UK’s National Cyber Security Programme, which the government says will enable the UK to adapt, innovate and invest to maintain and extend its competitive edge as a “responsible, democratic” cyber power on the world stage. It comes ahead of the next iteration of the National Cyber Security Strategy, which is expected soon. ..."

There's no set HPI (high purity iron) price, because the premium depends upon the degree of purity.

But I thought that it was worth highlighting that IRON's HPI will command a premium to normal iron.

It's also been a great year for vanadium, to complete the vanadium-iron-titanium hat-trick.
