A EUR 25 million funding line, non-secured & non-convertible, at interest of about 10%.

Sounds good to me, but obviously some people can spin just about everything negatively if they want to ...

The lenders are obviously confident, and ZEN doesn't wish to dilute shareholders at the current low price.

Note that non-convertible debt, without warrants, generally carries a higher interest rate: so ZEN's 10th. May loan agreement, with warrants at 0.17p and 0.21p, carries interest of just 5%.

Which suggests that having exposure to ZEN's s.p. upside is seen as very valuable.

African countries are among those hoping to increase their exports of gas to the European Union, after the EU committed to reduce its reliance on Russian supplies following the invasion of Ukraine.

Russia's suspension of deliveries to Poland and Bulgaria over their refusal to pay in roubles, the Russian currency, was a stark reminder of the threat facing the Eurozone. Russia has the largest natural gas reserves in the world and is the largest exporter, accounting for around 40% of Europe's imports.

The EU wants to cut supplies by two-thirds by the end of the year and become independent of all its fossil fuels by 2030.

However, energy economist Carole Nakhle says that with the combined exports of Africa's big players in the industry - Algeria, Egypt and Nigeria - amounting to less than half of what Russia supplies to Europe, they are "unlikely at the moment to compensate for any losses in Russian supplies".

"The good news is there will be greater interest in countries that already have the resources to replace Russian gas and Africa is in a very good position. We're going to see more investment," she says.

However, this will take time because if various logistical issues in the continent's major exporters.

Algeria is well positioned to benefit from the EU's shift in energy policy. The North African country is the region's biggest natural gas exporter and currently enjoys well developed gas connectivity infrastructure with Europe.

Last month Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi signed a new gas supply deal with Algeria to increase gas imports by around 40%.

It was Italy's first major deal to find alternative supplies following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

However, there are concerns over Algeria's ability to boost capacity due to rising domestic consumption, underinvestment in production and political instability, says Uwa Osadieye, the senior vice-president of Equity Research at FBNQuest Merchant Bank.

He points out that the amount of gas exported from Algeria to Europe has fallen sharply recently because of a dispute with Morocco, leading to the closure of a vital pipeline to Spain, from 17 billion cubic feet a year to around nine billion.

Pier Paolo Raimondi, an energy research fellow at Rome's Instituto Affari Internatzionali, echoes these concerns.

"The agreement will allow them to exploit the available pipeline transportation capacity and it could gradually provide increasing volumes of up to nine billion cubic metres per year in 2023 and 2024. [But] we don't know how fast Algeria can ramp up this production."

Despite the reservations, the deal has been hailed as a solid first step for Italy, which is the second-largest buyer of Russian gas in Europe. ..."

The last panic, in early March, was triggered by Russia attacking a nuclear plant in Ukraine.

That yielded some great buy opportunities, including here.

These panics tend to soon pass.

The concerns about interest rates and inflation aren't new, but periodically the markets seem to home in on them for a bit.

Shell company PNPL nearly doubled in the first half of April, despite not even announcing any news.

PNPL is currently 4.75p, market cap. £2.84M.

Like NZI, PNPL had fallen a long way.

But unlike NZI, PNPL is trading at multiples of its cash, which even at the end of last June was below £1M. (£930K.)

"'Concern' that cost of living crisis could lead to crime increase

The cost of living crisis presents a risk of increased crime levels in Suffolk, according to the county's police and crime commissioner.

Tim Passmore said there is a concern that crime could go up, but urged people to "show compassion" for others as the country faces the biggest drop in living standards for 70 years.

"I've always maintained that there is a link between higher levels of deprivation and hardship and increased incidences of crime, addiction, abuse and anti-social behaviour," Mr Passmore said.

"With the cost of living crisis, it's painful for people so there is a concern. There have been examples of heating oil thefts and so on, and although I haven't heard of any here, there have been reports of people siphoning fuel, that type of thing.

"So of course, it's a concern for everybody."

Mr Passmore's comments come after a former Metropolitan Police chief superintendent voiced concerns about the cost of living crisis leading to increased youth violence.

Speaking to The Independent, Dal Babu said there was a danger that food and hunger issues could be used to snare young people into situations where they are in debt to gangs. ..."

BRES has briefly dipped below 4p twice before this year - in January and March - and on both occasions it rebounded to over 5p - which was the level of the last two placings.

So this looks like another great buy opportunity to me!

The City of London Corporation, in association with the COP 26 UK Presidency 2022, is organizing the Net Zero Delivery Summit at the Mansion House, London, on 11th and 12th May 2022.

This international summit, delivered at the halfway milestone between COP 26 in Glasgow and COP 27 in Sharm El-Sheikh, will focus on net zero delivery and the progress of key priorities for finance agreed at COP 26 in Glasgow.

COP26 attracted unprecedented presence and engagement from the financial and professional services (FPS) sector, with the UK and City leading on the commitment to realign trillions of dollars towards global net zero. Almost 200 countries agreed to the Glasgow Climate Pact which aims “to keep 1.5C alive” and complete the Paris Agreement, by accelerating action on climate this decade.

In Glasgow, countries agreed the way forward for the new post-2025 climate finance goal with up to $130tn of private capital committed to reaching net zero by 2050.

Senior international policymakers, experts and Ministers will address what the current challenge to energy security and disruption to supply chains means for the net zero agenda and its implementation; how financial and professional services are supporting net zero delivery across the wider economy; and how finance is being effectively mobilised to support the net zero transition in emerging markets, to build climate resilience in developing countries and secure a just transition to net zero.

Hosted by The Lord Mayor of London, Vincent Keaveny, with participation from the COP 26 and the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) leadership, as well as FPS and business leaders, the summit will commit to driving three objectives:

• Maintain momentum on key policy initiatives for finance from COP 26;
• Present as best practice, the role of FPS in helping the wider economy achieve net zero;
• Secure London’s role as a strategic leader on sustainable finance.
