I think there will have been a lot of interest but also a lot of scepticism that AFC would deliver. Now they have these people can start to plan out their strategies around it, and this takes time.

I doubt AB looks forward to the AGM each year if he reads this board!

Being positive and interested is one thing - putting your hand in your pocket and potentially planning and constructing a new build around a product with no track record is another.

I think the first units will be very difficult to sell so any sales person will struggle, regardless of quality. A warranty from a well known supplier would help I’m sure...

DW - that’s just unjustifiable negativity from a sales person perspective. Successful people move around, especially if there is a new challenge or promise of more money.

This reminds me of when I’ve had to pass on adopting bleeding edge tech as the company selling it wasn’t considered mature enough and it was too risky to build a business critical delivery around it. Frustratingly on a number of occasions it’s cost us dearly going a different direction only to watch that product we passed over deliver and grow into a global success. The good thing however is that there is usually someone who has the balls to take it on as they are willing to take that risk.

Daz - it may be they will accelerate the delivery of the 400+ as that is planned for June 2021. 160 is June so I’m not sure how much faster that could be delivered but they may be able to cut a month off it with some additional resource, perhaps a delaying AlkaMem in the process.

Not wishing to put a downer on things but doesn’t this RNS just confirm we don’t have orders yet and we won’t until the larger units are available? We’ve always had a long list of potential customers.

They’ve made great steps in the power density direction already so it may be a market that will open up to them. It’ll be a huge one so plenty of action for many players. I just hope it doesn’t distract them from achieving in just one market!

I’m hoping they go to those shows with deals they can communicate as if they don’t it won’t look good.

Surely there’s no reason why a single connection to an AFC unit cannot service both wired and wireless - you install both in a parking space and it would just activate the one required.

I thought we were waiting on achieving PLACE before getting the warranty and the longevity was 4 years to achieve required cost per kw. That however is for one type of usage so in theory PLACE could differ depending on use-case and cost requirements. That being the case we could have multiple warranties provided depending on how they are used?

We need RNSs that relate to commercial deals for AFC products - like the EV charger or AlkaMem. I’ve got my hopes pinned on something early next week given the market will be back in full swing.

I understand Leo1 - boilers and fuel cells are easily confused

I read an article that mentioned battery swapping which in theory could be an option. Would require a lot of collaboration between manufacturers however so it’s difficult to see it working in practice.

It won’t work well on residential streets as it will rely heavily on good parking to ensure the pads are located correctly. Good for purpose built car parks and driveways where time isn’t a factor (ie airports).

I take it the AFC EV charger can run these pads too...
