Voltmeter .. la parrilla nuns.1 Feb 2019 21:29
Previous to the discovery of the tungsten resource there was an Abby on the site, the original owners come to an agreement with the regional diocese to relocate the small order to a bigger community of sisters, but not without much distress at that time..
rumour has it that many of the nuns were unhappy at the relocation and returned to live in the area of la parrilla and some hid out in disused cattlesheds and old farm buildings..
over the decades these homing nuns (as they are known) have become much loved and cared for by locals and mining contractors alike..
they have become quite naturalised and can often be mistaken for women..
they are harmless as long as they are allowed to freely graze the surrounding pastures and a few have held in paddocks..
the paddocking of nuns is not cruel by the way.
Others may wish to add more to the tale. The grazing rights of the la Parrilla nuns is part of a of a covenant within the mining license
Hope this helps
