Indeed, Lloy being almost entirely UK based is looking detrimental! Here's what worries me.

There are millions of people in this Country who despite having skills and experience are on "minimum wage". My Mrs is one. The last three years have seen increases in NMW but no rise in the Threshold at which we pay tax. She and a large percentage of the uk economy have less to spend. Their spend is for essentials, paying ever increasing bills. It is impossible to stimulate growth under these circumstances. Now this :

This and Lloy being a Landlord is of concern to me as a shareholder.

So many indicators point to a lack of confidence in this government. Banks thrive in times of growth. I'll say it again, the real test for the Lloy shareprice comes when this huge buyback ends. Also on the ability of the BOD to convince share holders they have not embarked on another scandal.

Everything I see and hear both locally (south West) and everything I read or watch on Verified news channels (not internet trash sites) tells me that business confidence is low.

As I used to work in the IPO world of the square mile and beyond to the financial centres of the world, I could measure my earnings and the confidence of industry by the number of IPO's brought to the city. While IPO's have increased worldwide this year they have declined in the UK. More than one reason for this but a major factor is the lack of confidence in UK growth as assessed by Investment banks underwriting the Floats.

Quite right. Unprecedented attack from no10. Also a waste of time.

Fiscal drag cuts growth...Not raising the threshold for years...hits the poorest working people. Less to spend means slow growth.

These political attacks are meant for parliament....not 10 Downing st.

By the time they finish this round it will be time for another! just keep buying until there are no shares left in the market at all..

WE wait the Budget of doom...with absolutely no tax rises at all...maybe... er apart from the fiscal drag ie no increase in thresholds for lower paid. So far that amounts to a £32 billion tax!

Hazard a guess Friday for interims? Last November was Friday the 8th.

I'm not so much concerned about the distressed seller. (if that's what they are) more concerned that apart from one guy no one is piling in on this apparent breakthrough moment.

Also if JC was not in his position he would not even be a notifier...Strange after all this time given his knowledge of where the company is at and what's to come.

The Lloyds "barometer". May I suggest that this particular barometer needs Re calibrating.

Everything I see ,hear and sense around me tells me that growth is unlikely. Certainly in the South West unless Rachael from accounts does something to help Catering, Hospitality, local industry etc there will businesses going bust and jobs lost.

As for interest rates the ultra cautious eediot running the BOE will not cut rates while inflation is so high. That will be the first time he has got something right!
