Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
As an industry we need to explore a range of options to reduce our emissions. We’re already working with Velocys to build a plant that produces sustainable transport fuels from household waste that would otherwise go to landfill, but we don’t want to stop there. Some of the best scientific minds in this field are based in the UK and are brilliantly equipped to develop a pathway for the UK to achieve global leadership in the development of sustainable alternative aviation fuels.”
The launch event, which took place at British Airways’ HQ, was attended by 15 UK universities and also featured talks from industry experts including Robert Boyd, Head of Sustainable Fuels at IATA and Baroness Sugg, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport.
Baroness Sugg, said: “We want the UK to become a global leader in the development and supply of next generation aviation fuels, cementing our reputation as a centre of excellence for sustainable aviation.
“This competition will move us another step closer to achieving this vision, balancing growth in aviation with sustainable development that benefits our environment and society.”
“The project’s aim is to use hundreds of thousands of metric tons of household waste including diapers and plastic food containers to produce enough fuel to power all of BA’s 787 Dreamliner flights from London to San Jose, California and New Orleans.”
It’s a no brainier...Airlines will be monitored on the C02 the airline produces and will be given insentives to reduce theses c02 emissions...It will also alow them to operate an older fleet like B747 longer at a more economical cost. If you then apply this to the newer B787 fleets the cost even come down more drastically.
British Airways ..Fuel costs were up 14.3 per cent, the company said, as its operating profit remained steady at £1.3 billion for the third quarter of the year . Got to be good news for Biofuel companies like VLS especially as we are in bed with BA on Biofuel project.

I’m more upbeat,,,, Paul Schubert covered every angle very well indeed. In fact he was outstanding and couldn't have done a better job.
Velocys gained a wealth knowledge form being thrown into the deep end with a plant (ENVIA), they had no design input, into. This was truly challenging situation; out of all this they managed to demonstrate the quality of staff and reliability of the FT reactors which are a world-class. The latest RNS statement pointed out the cash position with more news to follow on working projects shortly...I'm looking forward this.
Investors investors...listen in now to webcast (Gas Pro) velocys are due to speak later (Paul Schubert) the webcast Is currently running.
