ATLANTA — Delta Air Lines is working to become the first airline in the world to be carbon neutral. The Atlanta-based airline announced Friday that it will commit $1 billion over the next 10 years to “mitigate all emissions from its global business going forward.”27 mins ago

They are or I would think are in a closed period and would not be allowed to purchase stock whilst funding is being discussed
All the talk at DAVOS ...ANA CEO renewable FUELS. They have done test flights " Secret Flight from Japan" ...
Some good info on Twitter ref. "Velocys LTH group" ...renewable fuels - Airlines
GreenS - Uncertainty
I don't see that at all within BA they are 100% committed, and won't be derailed,...
All parts of the business including IAG are focused on this. "IAG Head of Sustainability Jonathon Counsell, BA and IAG have spent several years lobbying the government to allow carbon emissions/biofuels incentives, this will benefit everyone.
Next step is to build the plant and construct the refinery for the actual conversion from waste to fuel".
Joto ... We had nice update from Alex Cruz .. someone just posted - see “Velocys LTH Group” on Twitter..
He basically saying, and I’ve never seen such a strong commitment.. to VLS. “ongoing and it’s going to happen, it’s here to say!”
On each long-haul flight every customer is given a personal flatscreen with a huge choice of entertainment, including 200 movies, sport, TV shows, audio options and interactive games.
BA ..... We reach a potential 1.4 million viewers a month. As for movies, for many customers it's a real highlight of the journey. Some 88% of customers choose their favourite classic or blockbuster.
passenger inflight information to a captive audience... maybe a PR program or short documentary news channel about BA environmental
Impact would be good.. I’m sure this will pan out.
This seem very likely that planning issue won't be much of an issue with such strong support from local councils .
£42-million project, being delivered by North East Lincolnshire Council and its regeneration partners ENGIE – local authorities need to be self-supportive and as a result they need a vibrant and growing economy. The triage of works that make up SHIIP will be developed over the next decade, funded by a blend of council investment and grants with the aim of creating in excess of 3,000 new jobs"

I really don’t think you’ll have to wait until then. It’s amazing how quick money and investment can turn
these projects around. ... it’s all proven tech and it’s going to happen
Well said slick ... Thats exactly how I see this playing out.. VLS need to do with more work at the PR front with IAG/ Shell and go more public.
I work in Engineering for one of the IAG Airlines. We had a news letter a few weeks ago from the head of IAG “Sustainability Group” it was very positive and mentioned the strong partnership with VLS and Shell, they forecast by 2050 30% of all jet fuel in the U.K. could be renewable making a contribution towards meeting our target to reduce our emissions by 50% . He also mention the Immingham planning application with expected construction to start in 2021. .. He then went on to mention it’s excellent location with nearby pipelines that can deliver the fuel to major airports ...This is a lot bigger than just BA in my views and will involve more airlines lining up to purchase this fuel. “We support carbon offsetting scheme CORSIA and are confident that we can play our full part in reducing our CO2 emissions, and so provide our licence to grow sustainability”
Waiting for the ok on planning permission to come through, should start us off in the right direction I hope.
Last week I attended a BA workshop course for Engineering staff and a small part of the course indicated its still very much committed to this project with velocys.
BA data issues / penalty payment have nothing to do with its fuel commitment. BA always holds a large contingency budget just for issues like these.
Yep .....RNS
Henrik Wareborn, CEO of Velocys, said:
"We are pleased that ENVIA has reached this positive agreement with respect to the insurance settlement.
"The ENVIA demonstration plant has provided Velocys with an invaluable experience and track record, and creates a good platform for the company to move forward. It now allows us to focus our efforts on progressing with the development of our Bayou Fuels biorefinery project in Mississippi and our Altalto Immingham UK waste-to-jet-fuel project in the UK, working with our strategic partners to produce commercial scale volumes of renewable fuels."
Guys I'm new to char ....do they have large amount of debt..cheers
Great find Dave ...it's all starting to come together
As a BA employee within its Engineering Division is most definitely committed in reducing its c02 emission footprint and most definitely see the benefits in reduced fuel cost. BA has committed to keep the largest Airline 747 fleet in the world going for sometime yet. These fuel saving would make this fleet along with its 777’s cheaper to operate by far than any other airlines in the world on this scale...BA I believe has commitment to buy every drop of fuel it can get its hands on under this program...If you then apply this to the 787’s as well as the rest of the IAG fleet ...well,,, need I say more.
