Saietta VNA has ramped up its ‘Make in India’ strategy with a series of key developments ahead of eDrive (electric drive) volume production beginning in mid-2023.
Saietta’s new Radial Flux Technology (RFT) eMotor, developed specifically for India, has been created for lightweight two and three wheel applications. The air-cooled RFT85-65 produces 4 kW of continuous power at 48V and will be produced alongside Saietta’s AFT140, an Axial Flux Technology (AFT) eMotor.
Volume production of the RFT eMotor is slated to start in 2023, and construction of Saietta VNA’s high-tech manufacturing facility in Delhi is on track to meet that target. Groundworks at the site started in Q1 2022, the outer shell is complete, and fit-out will begin in Q1 2023.
Newly appointed managing director Prad (Pradumna) Walimbe will lead Saietta VNA through the next phase in the joint venture’s commercial and technical operations. In addition, a new non-executive director joined the board at Saietta Group late last year. A respected and established automotive industry leader, Seshu Bhagavathula joined Saietta after a highly successful career helping to progress and advance the Indian automotive sector.
