Fear of the unknown would be the reason. The world won't just end any time soon, but you'd think it's going to the way the headless populous are behaving. POG will survive and won't look back after the dust settles and inflation begins to bite.

CEY bucking the trend up over 4%

Had anyone else noticed that the $ has increased by 7% against the £ these past few days which goes a long way to explain the drop in POG. This has the potential to revert sharply in the coming days when reality bites the Americans.

Gold prices have seen strong selling pressure in today’s session. Spot gold last traded at $1,577.61.oz, down -3.89% with a high of $1,648.70/oz and a low of $1,577.61/oz. It’s possible that traders are selling any assets that have appreciated recently to offset losses suffered in stocks and equities, cashing in their safe-haven asset gains. US stocks are now down 20% from last month.

It is the third time this week that the New York Fed has increased the size of its interventions. It now offers $175 billion in overnight secured cash loans, up from $100 billion last week; and it is offering $45 billion of two-week secured cash loans, up from $20 billion last week.

U.S. equity markets were looking at their worst one-day selloff since the 1987 market crash before the New York Federal Reserve announced that it would conduct a $500B 3-month repo operation. The regional central bank also said that it will also expand Treasury purchases beyond bills -- that's fresh QE.

Markets are heading for the 3rd worst day on record, and worst since 1987 just now and still 20mins to go..
