Interesting article on preparing for next variant or further pandemic,

The following statement that Professor Holgate has made surely is an indication that he has seen even more evidence than the Phase 2 study that SNG001 is almost certain to be a very effective product:
'This treatment can prevent the progression of any virus-induced lung damage once someone is infected in contrast to preventing infection (which vaccines do).'
If there was any doubt in his mind he wouldn't make such a bold statement. He probably knows the results of the Home Study.
To be fair, the Germans aren't saying there is low efficacy in the over 65's, just that there is not enough trial information in that group to recommend it's use. The UK Medicines Agency have allayed fears in terms of equal immunity compared to younger groups. If the Germans don't want to use it then that should mean more for us!
From a situation a month ago when posters on this board were concerned at the lack of exposure of Synairgen's SNG001 we now seem to be reaching a situation quite quickly where the product is getting recognition for its potential with an ever increasing number of clinicians across a number of countries. Th e cat seems to be well and truly out of the bag!!
Good summary, Ghia. It just shows how much has been achieved in such a short time. The positives keep coming and the speed of developments is increasing. As a result so many more people are talking about the potential benefit of early antiviral
treatment, it was even mentioned in the Prime Minister's briefing today by Sir Simon Stevens and on Fox News in the US.
Like many new companies Icon have made mistakes in the past and have sometimes been less than transparent. However at the end of the day everyone has a choice, either believe that a turnaround is happening and invest, or don't believe it and move on.
I believe that if RM is to discuss fully some of the questions being posed at tomorrow's Sharesoc event he will need to issue an RNS in the morning as he is not able to discuss potential price sensitive information beforehand. As a result I believe we might well see an RNS in the morning
Under the article in the Daily Express there is a comment section headed 'Promising Treatment' by Richard Marsden which is 6 paragraphs saying a bit more about the trial and the safety profile of SNG001. The whole article takes half a page and is next to a very large headline 'Virus cases up by a third in a week to over 500,000'. A lot of people will read this..
Thank you WedMe for your brilliant articles. These, in addition to Professor Stephen Holgate's lecture and reported comments, fill me with great confidence for the coming winter both in terms of managing the pandemic and from an investment point of view. What I fail to understand from the comments of the WHO is why they continue to miss what seems to us the obvious. Surely they are not blind to the mode of action of SNG001 and how it differs from subcutaneous administration.. I am confused!!
