Lefty, selling and rebuying lower doesn't always work.
You have to consider the spread and you have to be able to call the bottom.
Also, you may be in a situation where you are not playing with profit, this becomes a psychological barrier.
Get it wrong and losses are compounded.
Sometimes waiting for a recovery, averaging down can be a better option.
Not saying your strategy is wrong, but you say you don't understand why people hold at a loss, this could be an example.
Also, selling at a loss can feel like an admission we got it wrong.
We are human after all, and admitting we are wrong isn't easy.
