Interesting view and no doubt a validd counterbalanced view can be put to challenge it.
Renewable technology remains in its infancy (with perhaps the exception of wind/water mills). It will rapidly improve in efficiency, it will fall in cost and it will become even cleaner as production methods improve.
In 2008 I worked for the then de facto world leader in video conferencing. We industry professionals sat and watched in awe as a "next gen" device was previewed: a guy switching from a phone call to a video conference mid-call ..... on a mobile phone!! Mind blowing.
15yrs later this is now considered just basic functionality.
The inevitability of "green energy" comes from it being not only within our control from a development/manufacturing perspective, but significantly more attractive than the somewhat complex saga of getting oil out of the ground.
Plus....once markets figure out how to make billions from renewables, there will be no holding back development!
In the meantime: I need PANR to extract as much filthy, dirty, polluting oil as possible so that I can not only be a hypocrite but also a wealthy one.
