The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
Or at least 'shortly' anyway! Now 8 weeks since end of Q3 and can't even get production results out - can only be negative for credibility. Becoming hacked off with the communications approach now - nothing short of shocking really. GLA GF
Rob, no I don't believe it was a 'slip f the tongue'. Manaila will never be a company maker, profitable no doubt, but by itself will only ever be small beer as far as profits are concerned. The true value is what Manaila unlocks - it is a strategic play. GF
Castaway, a 'dog' may have been a misrepresentation. My meaning was that by itself it will not add significant profits (even when consistently profitable) but what it unlocks is lucrative and therefore of significant importance. GF
Didn't surprise me in the slightest what AP said about Manaila, by itself it is a dog and even with Carlibaba won't add huge margins. Combined with BP on the other hand and what it exposes is a different kettle of fish! GLA GF
Yes Wololol, bought in here myself today to test my new 'technical' knowledge! Not my usual trading style but if I have learnt properly the chart looks delicious. GLA GF
Yup, that's what I'm hoping for isas, still mad with RP on what he did with PP!
Tom, great work bud, didn't realise you had set that up so thanks. Whilst I still think the PR machine / Cornish is poor I am reassured by the tone and words used by AP. Sounds like he is a little frustrated himself but I didn't detect anything alarming. keep the faith. GLA GF
Teacup - no worries, your discussion point is valid, I guess as with a lot of things it's just a judgement call. Either back him or don't. I do which is why am here and if I didn't I wouldn't have invested. Each to their own. GF
Teacup, statement was "PURELY FOR THE MONEY". I am not naive enough to think cash isn't a factor but I don't think it is a measure of success for guys like AP. He is not an Eric Schaer type and certainly at this stage of his career will recognise the need for credibility. Just my opinion. GF
Some great debate here today. Fwiw I don't see AP as some kind of charlatan. Think his motive is to achieve success by developing a significant business with Vast and then maybe one day moving on to a significant role with a major. Guys like him are not in it purely for the money, that is just a natural benefit of success. Topped up £10k today but no more for me until either 0.25 or 0.90! Let's hope it ain't the former eh! GLA GF
According to the commitment the company made on reporting they are late......FACT! This is the first question on my list to AP for any upcoming q&a. This was part of the published communications strategy which Cornish presumably advised on - but has since been forgotten. GLA GF
larsson2, do you not understand the importance of networking? Yup, get rid of AP who 'IS' Vast and replace him with.......??? Roy Pitchford perhaps? Please God.......GF
Agree with that analysis woodaldo and of course I missed out BB.
Positive sentiment will only be achieved when Vast start delivering against current milestones and although I have never rated Manailla that highly because of the low contribution, I think right now it is important because of investor perception and the loss of momentum - oh, and of course the need for it to pay for itself! GLA GF
I think folk are now becoming obsessed with Zim in the same way they once were about BP. Fact is Zim / Marange will take time. What we do now need is news on T2, BP, Zag and Manaila. Oh, and I'm not talking about podcast news but hard RNS' to the market stating the current position facts! GLA GF
Interesting indeed Scmoops - good networking opportunity. Looks like Roy P is there too. GLA GF
mojobojo, are you serious? GF
Signed in as LordG?.
Proceeding to full joint venture..........
Patien, wrong. The company committed to issuing them within 4 weeks of period end and part of the reason for removing any financially associated updates was to comply with this commitment and establish a reporting calendar. Not regulatory, but that is what they committed to. So in my book they are late. GLA GF
Dodge, you are right in that AP said in the Podcast end of Nov for T2, but that's not reflected in the latest RNS' for BP. "Work programme in the next few days", "T2 to be drawn immediately following BP". I'm not in the slightest concerned by activities in Zim as I accept that takes time to work through and can only assume that that's where £1m has gone and will all be good. I do now think there is a PR issue though - junior partner BOD releasing an RNS on Marange before us, AP bringing himself criticism by continuing to make statements which do not come to fruition e.g BP work programme, no update on quarterlies. I don't want to start throwing stones as a lot of good at Vast and I am heavily invested, just think the news flow could be better managed. GLA GF
Another 7am passes and no RNS!
I've got to be honest I am becoming frustrated. Staunch supporter of AP and still believe in Vast but now a month since Baita Licence and no update on promised plans, no update on T2, no update on £1.5m raise, no update on production which the company promised would always be within 4 weeks of period end. i get that some things are inter-dependent, but not getting production out is bad form in my view - if it's being withheld because of bad news then it won't get better by not reporting it.
Am I wrong to be irritable about these things? Vent over.......GLA GF
