China ramped up coal power capacity last year, according to new analysis, despite a pledge to "strictly control" the dirtiest fossil fuel.

The country added 47.4 Gigawatts (GW) of new coal power in 2023, more than double the amount added by the rest of the world combined.

In my opinion China has got it's energy policy spot on..... It's continuing to use cheap fossil fuels which ultimately keeps it's energy costs low, whilst investing heavily in renewable energy for it's future....

If only that clown Miliband would use the same strategy, our energy prices woul also be competitive!

Those renewable figures are indeed very impressive, but to get a fully balanced view, surely you should also include China's fossil fuel generation figures too...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I suspect your feed in tariff, like the wind and solar farms is at a heavily subsided rate. Which of course impacts on the wholesale price of energy.
