Odey Asset Management has increased by 0.14% on 11/03/2019.
Meanwhile T Rowe Price have taken back 0.78% of loaned shares and reduced by 0.04% by their overall holdings.
What we might be seeing here is a major shareholder squeezing the shorts. With existing shorts raising their stakes to push down the SP? Could also be raising shorts just before results on both fronts.
Shorts are up to 8.06%. Odey Asset Management has increased by 0.32% on 08/03/2019.
Mean while OppenheimerFunds, Inc. is now above 17.15%. Nearly a 1.13% increase since last notification. They are buying up sold stock here.
Hmmm share price dropped off after the results. From a brief glance I can't tell why. I don't like all these restated figures. There is a mention of a cash call or share issue for up to 1-13m? I think this was for a previous acquisition.
One fund reduced after the results. Maybe director leaving not good? Where is the white elephant in the room?
Ennismore Fund Management Limited have increased their short by 0.12% on 07/03/2019.
Some big sells today. 2m, 1m, and 0.5m. There was 6m or so sold yesterday too.
Wonder if funds are gambling on results forcing share price lower? If you had bought in at £1 or above then day trading sell at 98p would of been worth it here. Sometimes selling at a loss allows you to buy in cheaper. Even if your average is way above the current share price.
Very hard to read IQE right now.
Well JP Morgan increased their short on 05/03/2019 to 0.86%. Up 0.07%.
Market is showing almost 6m in sells today with a 1m and 0.9m trade. One cancelled trade of 400k.
So either shorter or fund taking profits. As pointed out below these rises seem purely based on expectation that IQE are on target for 2019. That or the funds buying know something we don't.
I also thought shortage of stock. See what tomorrow brings. With IQE buying shares at the peaks is never wise.
Remember some of those positions are historic. Ennismore had a short position in 2014. Which has gradually increased.
The company still has to meet it's targets for this level of share price to be justified. If a good RNS is on way then they may well be doing or exceeding that.
I wonder if some of the rise here is due to shortage of stock. Been a huge amount of buys in last month or so. Morningstar seems to show at least one new holding with 6-7m shares. So could be new funds entering here.
Least they have a new CFO now and this should have a positive impact as he beds in to his new role.
As stated below I think results will see a lot of activity. That is only 2 weeks away now. A TU to state how q1 went might be nice but seems unlikely. Generally emergency TU are bad news.
To be fair it has gone up nearly 40p on little or no news. Shorters could target results. Unless IQE state 2019 going as expected. Not sure what to expect really in terms of information. My general opinion was most shorters were clearing. Still more buys than sells today.
IQE would have a 2 month closed period before results. So IQE are in a closed period now. Most directors have millions of shares anyway. Most companies don't do RNS for share price movement. In most firms no news tends to be good news. If they are planning a RNS they may do it with the results?
Oppenheimer could still be buying. Could be a shortage of stock too making small bits lead to big rises. That or shorts clearing. Albeit volumes too small for that? What else do people know? Contracts won etc. Order books full?
I doubt a special dividend will arrive. They may just reinvest in other firms? Of course with any portfolio the big gains are there to pay for the losses on the shares they are losing money on. It would have to be a major rise for a dividend to happen? Even then they have to sell their shares? Which in some places might require a takeover? Some of these firms are private?
See what happens.
7.61% now. Polar Capital LLP reduced from 0.59% to 0.46% on 22/02/2019. Does seem to be a strong push upwards here. Has market sentiment changed or have the background sellers gone?
In any case there is no doubt that shorters are gradually reducing here. Some big news could prompt others to exit quickly.
This is pushing up more and more on low volume. Shorts fell very slightly yesterday. Maybe many under 0.5% are closing? I think many of the funds wanting out may have sold up by now. The shares have been mopped up here. What will shorters do here? Will they wait for the results? At present 57p seemed to be floor here.
I think that is the issue here. They invest in lot of companies. Some of the valuations of these firms are inflated. The market has taken that view. The accounts in March will likely also reflect what IP Group thinks some of these firms are worth. So where does a dividend to shareholders come from here?
Been a few directors buys over the year but 10-20k cash is pocket change for most executives. Share still controlled by some big investors here. Does seem to be a floor of 100p here.

More work coming Newgate's way. Seems to be a constant flow of new clients recently.
Still a big seller in background. You still going to risk more money here? They did a trading update before H1 results in August 2018. Hard to read numbers with so many one off costs. They were trading ahead of expectation on an ebidta basis and that was forecast to be 15% lower. Albeit they had been cutting back on staff and non profitable clients. The key here is q4 performance and impact of new clients and performance of Asian operations.
He is being vague as management didn't like fact he was giving out market sensitive information last time. He probably shouldn't be revealing anything on here that isn't in the public domain. Vague comments are not great for investment decisions.
People here could do with some good news.
Seems to always be a background seller here. Did you buy 500k of stock? Debt deal is in hand but it's taking them months to announce it. Only other concern if they start issuing more shares at 1p for Asian businesses.
I think the business is trading ahead of expectation judging by the 4-5 hires and new contracts. Albeit they have not done an RNS to say this.
I think there could be a decent upside here if the debt rate is reduced and they can turn a decent profit soon. Lot of bad news has been cleared in 2018.
