Alternative fuel26 Jan 2024 13:12
I think time might be running out for QED!
TUI Cruises have formed a partnership with energy company Mabanaft to procure methanol for its cruise line, as stated in a press release.
This collaboration anticipates the impending launch of the Mein Schiff 7 in 2024, one of the pioneering ships designed to run on methanol, with future plans to transition to green methanol.
This initiative aligns with TUI Cruises' 2030 sustainability strategy, emphasizing early partnerships with alternative fuel providers to guarantee a reliable supply for the Mein Schiff and Hapag-Lloyd Cruises fleets.
It is amazing to see brands like TUI making the switch to alternative fuels as we see a shift in how the new wave of cruise vessels will be run on the likes of LNG, Methanol, Hydrogen etc..., All in the name of reaching net-zero and reducing emissions.
