Things getting messy now. Another 16m shares scooped up, by Safilo again? They’re accumulating to block the sale. I wish I’d sold yesterday, at a loss, but hey ho. If Safilo are spending 30 million quid @ 85p it might be worth sticking around

Some astonishing trades we can see now throughout the. The 2.6m shares sold @ 85p I think we can safely say are Seagulls sale. But there’s been more that 15 million shares bought outside of that, another 15% of the company.

Seagulls tweet inferred Safilo were hoovering up their shares to take them to 4.7%. Can we assume that 15% is also going to Safilo, taking them to 20%. They must’ve surrendered their bid under the promise at a slice of a pie and a seat of the table of the winning bid?

Multiple buys going through over the 84p takeover price. Am I missing something or do they know something we don't?

Could also just be a flurry of shorts closing for whatever reason, lots of potential reasons

Bizarre price action on no news. Last time I saw anything similar on one of my stocks, a bid was announced at the close that day. Not suggesting I think that's what happening, but certainly is odd. Buyers in the know, sellers out of the loop and selling after seeing the spike? Who knows, volume is certainly pretty high

The refinancing is far bigger news than the date of the results. It is indeed, Stretch. Looks like all parties will take it down to the deadline. There’s been persistent buying at 70p, and knowing what a leaky ship this seems to be in terms of inside info (the price spiking in the hour before the takeover interest announced for a case in point), I think we can expect offers comfortably in excess of 70p. Seagull giving it a 90-110p valuation, is an offer north of 110p wishful thinking? With three parties involved, maybe not

I see they are listed on the Swiss Exchange. I’ve never owned non-UK shares, but I’m assuming you can buy and sell in the same way without hassle?

Appreciate the context. I wonder if the 35-60% premium is consistent with shares that are currently trading far far below what they were in the not so distant past - this was over £1 a couple of years ago. Also with directors having bought in at much higher levels, you would think a premium in excess of 60% would be needed to have a chance of being accepted/approved

Certainly explains the explosion in SP into the close - someone clearly tipped off. Not surprised there's takeover interest with the market cap so ridiculously cheap for so long, has looked ripe for a bid for a while. Finally a shot in the arm for the SP, could go 60p+ tomorrow and will be interesting to see what price they're willing to pay. You would think even a low-ball offer would be north of 70p.
