To my mind funds are the best and safest way to make money.
Even in a crash they will recover in a couple of years.
Top funds can double your money in five years or less.
My strategy as mentioned before split portfolio between ten and twenty top performing funds-either sector top performers or investment house best performers,then I like to watch them compete like racehorses.

Ive reduced share holdings about 90% in funds.

Seems like both bt and centrica are going down the plughole!
The addage time in the market not timing doesnt seem to always wash,most companies have a lifespan before some kind of negative missile hits them eg a disruptor(4g/5g,solar panels),macro economic tsunami,poor management,a change in fashion.
Times change and economic moats dry up if management sit on their laurels .
Imo Woodfords undoing was sitting on companies with moats for too long.

Takeover speculation driving up price,some other company now holding a 25% according to staffline chatroom board.

Safest way to make money in my unqualified opinion is to split between 10 funds and be prepared to hold for upto five years in case of boom bust scenerios.
Lgen and cineworld look cheap to me and have nice income revenues,but the whole market is a minefield and always will be.
Shares with economic moats maybe the safest,was it your good self that mentioned the buffetology fund that we made money from?

Yes I like Avro it was one of my two shortlists(both low tariffs and good service records).

Current tariff due to end so compared prices and customer ratings.
Bulb seemed a no brainer for electric,100% green,cost about 13.5p per kwh,no tie in charge and a fifty pound free credit!
If you currently have a tie in charge they pay that off as well.

I think graphene company versarian's results come out today,they've had quite a few contract wins recently so sp should shift one way or the other!

Heres an observation for you given that you like to occasionally short(use reverse gear lol).
Check out the five year graph for Phoenix group and its current price.
To me it always seems to hit a consistent ceiling that its close to then drop down a bit.

I cannot understand companies increasing their debt substantially even when they say its for investment and still giving out high levels of dividend.
Far better to do a placement for investment imo especially when sp is at higher levels,and for those reasons staffline isnt on my buy list.
