I avoided being a day trader and became a next day trader. Would have been better off if I sold as the daytrader!

With a space appearing in an isa, I have added this morning with the view to sell the same amount a bit later from outside the isa. So no real difference unless the price goes down and I just end up with more than planned. Hoping that the SP, which is down more than the divi recovers back to normal levels shortly. Maybe I can become a day trader!

Yep the bright and sunny weather make a difference after a dull winter and my grass is ready for a second cut now. Got the factor 25 on today as I have been out with the brush cutter attacking the brambles round the wet scrape in the woodland and was treated to a Robin hunting lunch. You can make an easy 5% ............. by doing absolutely nothing just collecting the divi but I can see the temptation into trading or playing on the market maybe I should spend more time in the woods instead of on here. Often the ex div SP rises back to the mean so might be worth a top up tomorrow then and wait a few days to get back here..... Ukraine/China excepted of course.

Hi NKOTB, are you trying to say that the SP should be rising slightly on the expectation of the divi and then fall ex but in this case its getting lower (just above 52 week lows) and will get even cheaper post divi?

That 643p that was too expensive is staring to look cheaper now from up here. SP has swung from 760 to 720 over the last couple of days. Maybe I can tempt it back down now cos I still would like some more

So this is now not a tech company but like an Israeli version of the Co-op in the process of suing some of the big teckies and getting some royalties from the old technology that it used to make. Maybe I need to re-balance my portfolio as I might be overweight in supermarkets now

I have my eye on the CLLN results which were out at the same time as these and after an initial dip went up some 4% on the day they announced a fall in a decade. Yes things are not great currently at STAN and the strength of being in EM is now classed as a weakness adding to the SP pressure. I had been looking to add some more and felt that I had missed out on that initial dip and wished that I had pushed the button especially as its coming up to ex divi day. Anyway yesterdays dip gave me a second opportunity that I thought Id missed so jumped in with a few more. I liked the progressive dividend and its already a reasonable divi yield on a lowish PE. Hopefully the reward will outweigh the risks and its at a low SP too boot.

Goldenshares have you considered Club Finance as your broker as you deal so much. It was 50p a trade now a massive rise to £2.50 but still less than half price on HL Although HL have confirmed that I wont be charged the increased fees on my holdings while I wait for them to transfer them away. Now waiting for the outcome of my complaint to The Financial Ombudsman Service regarding exit fees they want to charge.

Abcdefgh - I read an article where the shares of recommended sellers out did the recommended buys and seem to suggest things were overdone both ways so you were better off buying ones that were "sells" or is that called being contrarian Van - As a holder I dont think you really have any other option but to take part ........ unless you dont think things will get better. I dont think that there will be much more bad new to out but suspect the SP will dip. Hopefully it will rise on an air of optimism for you now! and I feel a little better about apple products. Saw a bit on CNBC yesterday with Warren Buffet taking questions. He is getting his Mrs an low cost index tracker for her investments when he passes away but there was a hint that he might be in here some how. I did mention that he is not normally on the wrong side of a deal so maybe there is more detail to come on that Berkshire Hathaway involvement or I could just be making 2+2=5 .... just like any irish unit would do!

Basically everything is negative and the outlook is challenging. The divi has been held so its not all bad whilst it works through cost cutting and reorganisations. I dont know how much is priced into the SP but I expect it will trade lower today even though brokers have upped so prices to 350p but I tend to ignore them generally as I havent paid for the material so there is no context. The Americas underlying operating profit was impressive! The outcome of the FINRA arbitration on the claim brought by the subsidiary companies in the United States directly affected by the raid is expected to be determined imminently.

Just a bit of fear entering the markets from events over seas hopefully a temporary dip that might we worth a top up at some stage.

Van, Is it you not knowing how to drive the pad or is it a poor advert for some over priced apple product? Maybe Its because I am learning to drive a Windows phone. Although I was initially slated by a few Apple types for my choice. I have since noted that they now own window phones and state that they wouldn't go back so its a fickle world. I can't comment either way but can cut n paste and have actually made a call with my phone too, so old fashioned I know. As for RSA, I would have though it was less risky now that the numbers are out whereas previously there were too many unknowns. How all this pans out I have no idea. I suspect that the SP will fall lower until the new shares are sorted as there must be some sort of dilution. Maybe JackD's option is along the line I would be looking at. Still no divi though but when capitalised and back making a profit with a positive outlook the SP should start to rise. The question is what would be a good starting point?

Even a reduction to 0.25% charge wont stop me from moving and you had your chance. To be honest even if they offered it me for free I would probably cut my nose off to spite my face and still move. Sending me a letter to complete and retun before my move is a slowing tactic and the missing the "secure message" to contact me via phone to speed things up was a communication. Although in an attempt to keep me they again mention as a positive, being able to speak to a person! I wonder if they will still try and charge me the new inflated price on costs as they have not yet moved my funds?

The JSF was supposed to go on our aircraft carrier whereas the Eurofighter doesn't but as always things get a but jumbled when the costs rise. They wanted a Harrier replacement with vertical take off facility but costs and poor performance stopped this. I think they looked as the costs of the carriers too and ideally wanted to cancel but Gordon Brown made it more expensive to cancel than continue to build. I think cost also increased to have a catapult system installed. Every time it changes I suspect its more money for the firms involved as the taxpayer foots the cost

Yes I think RSA is having a bad time. It got worse after I bought and maybe I was lucky to avg down and leave with a profit. If the divi was not under so much threat I may have even hung on but There was too much down side risk. At some point this will become cheap but its identifying that price or when on balance things are more likely to move positively. I personally love alb1ons insights as the more he mentions the more I know I dont know about insurance. I think you can invest in a company without knowing how to run it if the numbers stack up, its strong and has good history. I think the actions will stop RSA becoming another HMV but how long will it take to turn around and when or if to rejoin the party. If your a holder at a much higher price the options are probably different and unless you take your losses it look like riding this one out until the capital is sorted and so sort of divi come back. As for them doing an honest job, its more telling what they don't say and its better to direct you to look one way so you miss the dark corner that they want to remain hidden. I don't see why two similar companies cant make a profit be it supermarkets, oilys or shops even if they are fighting for the same pound. If I added to my supermarket pot I would look to see what was cheap at the time of buying and not just add more of the same thing cos I already hold them but had rocketed up to expensive levels. Just like this I may have bought again if it was cheap (very cheap without the divi) now I have a feel for it. I have several shares that I would like more of but they are too expensive IMO so will have to wait. Although they will all probably fall at the same time. Maybe the Ukraine news might turn into one of those events lets hope not or that RSA has any liabilities out that way. It puts our troubles into context! Maybe I should shove my RSA money into more SL. as they are upping the divi again, I think that every year now. I was hoping RSA would start doing the same before all that bad news came out

I didnt read the report in great detail but noticed Warren's in da House! Now he is not normally on the wrong side of a deal so Im sure things must be pretty bad to get Berkshire Hathaway involved and although it might save the sick patient the medicine is likely to be expensive. Views anyone?
