F4, I hope I haven't missed you but sorry to see you go and all the best!!! I'm going to take a bit of a break but may return after the summer. I'm sure I'll still check up on everyone from time to time. Also have some oil positions expiring later which aren't looking good to say the very least. Not the best way to go out lol
Evening all. Hope you're racking up plenty on points?! Good news from me, I've finally exchanged contracts and get the keys to the new house in 2 weeks. It's only taken 4 months zzzz
Well done FP and F4, and have a nice long w/e. Shorted oil at the very top :) b/e stop in place but about 150 points up at the moment. Dax short closed and a very red long still open unfortunately. Dow longs also way off but happy to let the longs sit there as long as it takes...
Oil short closed for 50 points. Have another one open that's a bit down so just derisking a bit. Will go again on a rise back to 47, if not then heyho
Just me today...Long on the Dow has treated me very well and now long on the Dax at 12040. Probably my best weeks trading so far! Just got to be careful not to over do it..
Ftse short 7024 - 10-20 points will do
Stop hit on my oil short for 75 points. Gone short again at 46.90 - same price as before
Shorted the Dow for a quick 60 points then opened a new long at 17940...45 up so far (other long still open with another couple at 18100 and 18150ish. All long termers. Oil nearly hit my stop but luckily just missed as it shot straight back down...phew
Oil up 150 points so b/e stop in place. Also long on the Dow at 18030..long term trade for 300-500 points hopefully
Thanks for the answers all. I'm pretty sure none of my friends have £10k to bet with, so I'll keep fending them off from the more volatile markets. I was thinking a similar amount tbh and still trading £1-2 a point myself with a max of 3 positions open on a particular market (other than the Dow which I'm a bit more confident with going long). Made 500 points myself today - Long on Dow and ftse. Short oil (before the rise this afternoon) and short again earlier at 46.90 which is where it's back to now. Down on a gold short though but leaving it running...
F4 and others..Just out of interest, how much capital do you think is needed to start this 'spread betting' business? It obviously depends on a lot of factors, such as £per point, but I've had a few friends saying they're thinking of giving it a go after seeing me on it all the time. I try and steer them clear tbh as things can quickly go against you and it's easy to get wiped out just learning the ropes
Thank you Hot. All makes sense. I see the euro is having a little bit of a bounce today so the Dax has pulled back a tad...more needed though I'm afraid
Hello Hot. Just a quick question when you have time...what do you mean by the rise in the Dax being index driven and not stock driven? How does the index change differently to the companies within? Thanks
Here's the drop we wanted. A little gutted I don't have many shorts on. The ftse just missed my target short price of 6990 so I don't bother and as I already had a few Dax positions open I was 'good' and didn't open any more. Just closed one of them at 11415 for 55 points as looking a bit over done at the mo
Afternoon Hot. Yep, I got in too early as per usual. Maybe we'll get to 17800 which I think SirG had on his radar.
Dow long 18030 all seems set for 20000 and Apple to join the index
Dax has a rocket up it's behind again. I opened a short earlier at 11470...immediately went red but now back to b/e....same as my oil short
Hello all. Not much action from me as of late - paid my deposit to the solicitor today... Did okay from a ftse short and Dax short (caught it at the very top this am) but closed far too early. Went short again on us crude at 5350 with a target of 200pts
Evening guys. Hope you've all had a good week? Looking join you all and add some shorts. Got 30 points from a ftse short at 6969 earlier. And tempted to short oil atm. DAX....hmmm, it's got to fall soon lol
Dax just went a tad mental
